Okay I included this as part of a previous rant, but it's doing my head in so I'm giving it it's own thread!

About 50% of the time when I switch on my xbox (doesn't matter if I'm on live or not) my theme will appear to have reverted back to the default one. When I go to theme select it still says "Gears of war theme" is currently selected. but all of my other downloaded themes are not on the list anymore. They still show up on the hard drive memory, but not on the select theme menu. Then sometimes I'l boot up and it'll all be fine, the gears of war theme (or whatever is currently selected) displays fine, and all of my other ones are listed in the menu.

Not a big grievance, but could it be a sign of hard drive problem? I don't have any problems with demos or videos or gamesaves etc. Just this problem. Has anyone else had this happen?

PS I've tried deleting and redownloading the themes, but it doesn't help.

I've read about that before. It's probably worth ringing Microsoft and finding out.

I managed to find one guy on the xbox.com forums who had this exact problem, and within a week or so his xbox died completely. I could phone ms but I don't think they'd be very helpfull. It's not got 3 red lights or anything so they'd probably charge me to look at it. :(

Yeah, I'd heard it's an early indicator of RRoD... You'll still be in warranty so ring Microsoft, if they won't do anything now, just prepare yourself to send it off in a few weeks!

Just a quick question, where did you hear that? I've not heard of this issue so I'd be interested to read up on it.

I've just seen that you've got an Elite... that's strange!

Why strange? It's handy because it's new so if it goes wrong it's going straight back to gamestation for a swap. Cheers.

Just strange because the Elite's are almost bullet proof!

Haha no way I'm on my second elite; the first one red-ringed within a month or so. Until the falcon chipset the elites were exactly the same architecture as any other 360, just with an HDMI port, black case and a bigger hard drive bolted on. They have the same problems as any other I'm afraid.
