Channel changing, menu response times, live pause, everything is starting to become slower and slower. Almost feels like the drive needs defragmenting. Anyone know how to do this?

Defragging the drive as such won't make any difference to the speed of the menus or channel changing:)
Since you are recording single files in the gigabyte range there is little fragmentation going on compared to a PC system writing millions of 1k-1gig files.

A simple reboot has been found to give a struggling system a boost, go into standby and let the drive spin down then simple power off and on at the plug.

If that doesn't work search on here for how to do a 'planner rebuild', that will normally sort it.
