    Hi,

Just turned off my new Freeview box onto standby and then 15mins later I turn it on to find I get sound but no picture. Its a Pace Twin with IXOS RGB only Scart and optical cable. well I tried placing the scart on another socket on the TV and no picture so I decided to replace the scart lead with a cheapo one and I got a picture.

So I looked at both scart connectors to find all pins intact and they are not loose in any way.

I put the scart cable into my DVD player and that didn't work either so it looks like the scart lead died Never heard of that before but it seems that way. Will try and see if I can get it to work tomorrow.

How can you receive sound if it's an RGB only Scart cable
Funny for a high quality scart like IXos to die like that, has the cable been punctured or damaged in some way.

I get sound through the optical cable, No signs of any punctures or any damage at all.

    LOL, sorry misunderstood
Your saying your not getting a picture at all, no Red, Green or Blue. If one of the pins or one of the individual cables were damaged then one of the colours might be dead, but to get no picture at all is odd. Might be a silly thing to say but it ain't a one directional cable that's the wrong way around is it :rotfl:

Just a thought, but you might also want to check that the Freeview box hasn't done a reset and defaulted to a video output other than RGB (eg composite only) which the other SCART carries. If that turns out to be the case though you need to look at your DVD output settings if you're using SCART and not component!

I will have a look if it has changed it to composite on the freeview box.

Ive just plugged the cable into the downstairs TV and into sky digibox and it worked!

So why is it my TV (Toshiba 32ZP48P) now doesnt like my IXOS cable but happly runs some cheapo scart?

The downstairs Tv is a toshiba 28ZH46 i think if that helps

Well, it could be (something like) that one of the pins on the IXOS scart has retracted ever so slightly and isn't making good contact AND the socket on the 32 incher has its connectors a little more recessed than on the 28.

Or the same thing at the Freeview (/$ky) box end.....

It only takes one pin (19 or 20 IIRC) to fail to make contact, to kill the entire video connection.

if you're sure it's the scart lead at fault then they have a lifetime guarantee according to the packaging so contact your dealer / ixos!

well RGB scart or RGBcvS to give it its proper name still uses composite video to sync the Red green and blue signals so the box set to composite will still give you a picture (depending on signal detection at TV end...........

Yeah I forgot about that lifetime warranty. Do I still need the box that the cable came in to claim for the warranty?

    Thanks! :)

The original invoice from the dealer should be fine, the box isn't essential
