My Samsung LE32R41BD is up & running

Sammy LE32 is finally installed and set up – wow! I am bowled over by the picture quality – I even found the analogue reasonable, but of course in digital it rocks! (To quote someone else on this board!).

I must admit that it is actually too big for my room – a 28” would have sufficed, I’m not moaning and I’m certainly seeing films in widescreen! I use teletext and on this screen it was, for me, too overpowering. But then I discovered that I can have it and the channel I’m viewing, both on-screen at the same time thanks to the split screen. Neat!

As for the colour – Wow! Wow! and thrice Wow! ;) Think that for the very first time I’m seeing the colours as they were meant to be seen. I’ve only dipped into bits of the DVDs – daren’t say how many! But some have been truly great – “Monsters Inc” and “Lion King” – especially the “Hakuna Matata” number – the colours are quite staggering. Also managed to see “Pirates” complete tonight – magical.

Can I thank all the contributors to my recent postings on here – you helped tremendously and I’m certainly feeling happy with this purchase

John :smashin:

Glad you liked it. :) I think that it is a great set and at the Freeman's price as good as it gets.

I thought it was big at first but it is amazing how you soon take it for granted, I started wondering what a 37" would have looked like, Doh !, silly me I am at the correct viewing distance now, about 2 metres, a 37" would be too much.

When I first had mine I watched the Olympics, and for sure the colours were stunning, one bit of bad news is that you soon start taking it for granted.

My 4:3 Tosh 33" went on the blink so I had to decide what to do. The choice as I saw it was get an enormous, ( I need a 32" )CRT, where there are fewer and fewer manufacturers, or go the lcd/plasma route on a limited budget and knowing that these formats are still far from perfect.

Very happy with my £700 Sammy, if I can get 5 years out of it I will be pleased, as by then I think a different improved format will have emerged.

When you look at all the options for changing the picture standards, other than those who keep to default I would guess that it is unlikely that any two people on earth end up with identical settings.:D

I've had my sammy 26" for about 6 months and can't fault it.

It has been on for 10 hours a day either connected to my pc or using it to watch films/tv.

One slight gripe is it takes a while to scroll through the AV channels, but apart that a solid 4/5 excellent value midrange set.

I thought it was a bit ugly at first, but it really grows on you too!

Matt.

Yo

What settings are people running on.
Going round to outlaws later to setup, so a few clues as I wont be allowed to tamper from default for long !

For sure it is either faulty or your set up is somehow wrong.

From 8 feet the picture can look great to poor depending on the input/channel with SD from Sky I find.

What is it like with DVDs as that should give you a fair idea if it is faulty or not as with a decent input is should give a decent output ? If it is poor with that it would suggest the set is faulty, it can be sometimes I suppose that the image enhancing stuff can go tits up and screw the image..

If component does not work I can only assume a faulty set. Get it changed, and in my opinion it is worth sticking with the Sammy for another try.

You have only had it a few days so a refund or exchange should be easy enough, if you're not happy with it don't mess with it, as disappointing as it is.

Glad I'm not the only one who loves animation on LCD. Disney's new DVDs seem to have really bright colours that hurt my eyes on a CRT, but on an LCD they look great.

I'll probably get more into live action movies once a format that can do realism (Blu-Ray) comes into my house, but right now I love the look of some nice animated stuff on my LCD. Plus I think films that are drawn are more interesting to look at anyway :D
