    Hi,

    I am new to this forum so hello to all. I am 19 and have always loved hifi stuff ever since I was like 10. Over the years I have had many systems from kenwood to sony to yamaha. I wanted my bedroom done so about a year ago we did. Our family has ditched all TV systems so it was time for a projector which is what I wanted for bloody ages.

    The room=========

    The total cost of my room wasnt to expensive as I didnt have tons of cash. I think I spent about £1500 on the room its self which included a new ceiling, sink, air con unit, all the cable, tons of network sockets/plugs and speaker outlets, 20 unibond no more nails, plasterboard and 2000 screws & 10 spot lights, custom screen that me and my dad made :D

    The kit===========

    The kit consists of 1 LCD projector, 5 mission speakers (2 floor standers), yamaha av5 dts / dolby amp, digital sat, laser disc player (pionner), 5 yamaha DVD changer, 400 CD sony multi changer, nicam video (hitachi), £200 of cabling.

    These are the only pictures I have of the room when it was in progress (and there had been weeks of progress when I took them because this room had water damage which we had to treat.

    We made this pod shaped projector system because I had an epson emp 3300 which you couldn't turn up side down which was a nightmare due to a line brake in the screen - we used 4 metal rods from B&Q and an mdf bottom base. I have since changed the projector and could mount it on top but it is fine as it at the moment.

    Nice one. It looks like you've put a lot of effort into it.

    One of these days, I'm going to have to pull my finger out.

    19-diycinema (if you still exist) you are the only person I have found on these forums that ever had experience of the epson emp 3300, how did you find it? I may be able to get hold of one for £200 ish and wondered whether they were much cop at playing DVD's.

    Thanks :rotfl:

    Don't bother.

    Very poor blacks, screen door that you can fit a bus through and the colours are astonishingly bad.

    We have a couple at here at Uni and have had PowerDVD running DVD's through one. Not an experience I would want to repeat!

    Save some money up and go for a X1, AE-100, Z1 etc.

    Looks like there is more light coming from the case of the projector than the lense!!!
