My projector turned into a spotlight?

    Turned it on today and instead of coming up blue when no signal it came up full bright white,
    no picture, no on screen information, no menu. It's an expensive torch at the moment.

    Has the LCD died?

    Anyone?

    I've no idea, but how about you post the make / model to give the people who might be able to help you more of an idea. :)

    Oops, Sorry, I thought this would be a generic, across makes/models problem.
    It's a Sony VPL-CX1. At least I know the bulb isn't dead and I don't have any dead/stuck pixels, unless they all are :)

    I have exactly the same problem with mine.

    vpl-cx1 sony
    What can be done to repair it...

    I had opened mine up to see if I could flip anything to make it ceiling project upside down. I suspect I must have shorted something out. I opened it up again and checked everything and then it worked normally but the red was out of synch. I sold it on to someone who only needed it to project text so wasn't bothered I'd rogered it. :blush:
