my onkyo 608 caught fire

:oops:Hi everyone, a strange tale of disaster and madness. I bought a brand new 608, i had it a few days, i wasn,t happy with the sound quality so i started to go through the sound calibration menu to adjust the speaker volume, when i noticed the rear left and front left was putting out sound at the same time, a couple of seconds later it made a fizzing noise like a firework and burst into flames.
Has anyone had a simular experience

My Onkyo runs very hot indeed, but I've not yet experienced spontaneous combustion I must say...

You mentioned that you had dire sound from it and that when you ran the set-up sequence you had the sound comming out of two channels at once? Stupid question but - had you checked that the speakers were connected correctly? Sounds as if there were crossed wires somewhere (internally or externally).

Friendly advice - if the speaker connection was incorrect, don't tell a soul... It could void your warranty!;)
