ive just sold my entire AV system
Celestion impact 23 speakers, sony 5.1 amp, gale gold monitor speakers and an REL Q50 sub.

So im going to start from scratch, ive looked at the obvious B&W 602 S3 speakers and was impressed by them but everyone seems to have these! :boring: and so im looking to buy something a wee bit different and would like some input? I will also consider 2nd hand speakers.

going to listen to Mordaunt Short MS906, anything else for short list?
    monitor audio bronze?
Budget is £350 for 2 front speakers (ill worry about all the rest later!)

    Room size 22foot * 13 foot
Floorstanding or stand i dont mind.

    thanks

I'm not sure there is anywhere in NI that i can listen to the polk R50s. i would love to though!. Never been a huge fan of Mission speeakers, dont ask me why i think it dates back to the days when i worked in a hifi shop.
ill do some phoning about see if anywhere over here sells the R50s or the minipods.

    thanks

Second hand Quad 12l or PMC DB1? They'll certainly be a different sound.
Another possibility could be the Tannoy Eyris 1. I think they used to retail at around £600 but i've seen them as low as £299 on line. If you like the looks they sound very nice.

Will you be using them just for movies or music as well? if its just for movies I suggest the M&K K series, 2 X K5 will come in at 350.00.

And then later perhaps add a K7 as the centre, and finally the K4 Tripoles as surounds.

But do listen, M&K sound is not to everyones taste, always arrange a demo.

Unusual recommendation nowadays. In the early days of Pro Logic the American Polk brand was quite well known over here but for some reason their profile has been a lot lower in recent years. I have heard two seperate Polk systems and liked both but I don't know the model numbers.

Steve Green is a Polkadot or whatever you call them :D

    Thanks.

Most of my listening will be movies (hopefully with the aid of an SVS sub (in the new year))!
I always find it really annoying when i do have a 'music moment' that the quality of home cinama amp and speakers just doesnt sound as good as a stereo amp, cd player etc. I suppose its always a comprimise.
