My new LCD apparently has a "CI Slot"

    I assume for a top up tv card for the built in freeview?

    Yup.. basically a CAM/card slot for freeview..

    It's for the pay services that are offered in addition to Freeview. At the moment, the only one of any use is Setanta Sports. To use it, you will require a Conditional Access Module (CAM) which will plug into the CI Slot and a Setanta card & subscription. The Setanta card goes into the CAM, then the CAM with the card goes into the CI slot.
