My latest Sky bill looks excessively high

Hi,

I received my latest Sky statement yesterday morning and the figure they've come up with (£82.21) which is the amount to be payed on the 26th November, is still bothering me.

On the 2/11 I asked them to switch on Sports 1 and 2 for the Spurs/Inter game then on the 4/11 asked them to switch my Movies 1 & 2 back on (after I cancelled in October)

This is the account transaction:

22/10/2010 - 25/10/2010 - 1 Pack with Movies Pack - £4.67
26/10/2010 - 01/11/2010 - 1 Pack with Movies Pack - £7.90
02/11/2010 - 03/11/2010 - 1 Pack with Sports Pack - £2.52
04/11/2010 - 25/11/2010 - 1 Pack with Premium Pack - £32.65
26/11/2010 - 25/12/2010 - 1 Pack with Premium Pack - £46.00
26/11/2010 - 25/12/2010 - Sky+HD Pack - £10
22/10/2010 -------------- Credit for cancellation of 1 Pack £19.00CR
26/10/2010 -------------- Credit for cancellation of 1 Pack £2.53CR

Total £82.21
I spoke to Sky customer services and queried the bill and he said it works out correct, and the reason it was so high was because I was paying for next month's service in advance.

I took it on the chin, but now I'm confused again. If you look at the bit I highlighted, it seems I'm paying for this month's service again.

Is this an error on Sky's part or mine?

I really would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Sky's bills are difficult to understand, as I thought I had been overcharged when I first turned on movies.

Sky subscription is paid one month in advance so you already paid for the channels you had (before you added Sports) in the October bill. As you added premium channels into this month, you didnt pay for those extra channels in advance last month.

The bit is bold is movies and sports plus one pack for the 21 days between 04/11/2010 - 25/11/2010 (the part you didn't pay for last month). Though as you had already paid for the movies, that's what the credit at the bottom is added for.

"26/11/2010 - 25/12/2010 - 1 Pack with Premium Pack - £46.00"

If its £46 for a month then £32.65 is what it costs for 21 days.

I hope this helps. I wrecked my head working it out on my own bill! You are paying for you next month with all the channels, plus the sports since 04 November.

You have my respect working that out for 'Hopeless' ------ i have lost count of the number of times i have thought sky have cocked up my bill ------ i think you should set up your own website helping sky viewers to understand their bills.

Yes, it takes a lot of patience to see through their unconventional way of accounting.
I have an ongoing issue with them that I'd certainly refer to that web site!
