I have a Philips 32pw 6305/25 television. The problem started about a month ago,i switch on the dvd player which is connected via scart socket and the television goes into standby this happens all the time now,i can watch sky using the second scart socket but the sound is terrible,it sounds ok through normal tv channel. There is obviously a problem with the scart sockets but does anybody know what? Please help thank you

Try disconnecting pin 8 on the scart which is the switching pin and see if that cures it ?

Also try the tv with just sky in and see what the sound is like? And try it with just the DVD player in to see if it still does it?

This could narrow it down to one of your scart leads?

If you find one of the above cures it then try the known good scart lead on the other machine, if that works you just need buy a new scart lead.
