Nice kit list make sure you get some pics up :smashin:

pictures added.
Sorry about the quality, need to get a "real" camera out !

Very nice indeed. Like the oak cabinets. Thinking of doing the same myself.

Yes. Had them custom made by a local carpenter.
Vented shelves. Vented plinth. Vent slot in rear of top.
Try to keep it all cool !

Have added a new Samsung TV and a wireless HDMI sender.
Will update the pictures soon.
Also about to have a new kitchen, so am adding some in ceiling speakers, will update when in progress !

Hey BruceH very nice cinema!

Would love something like that setup up in my den :)

can i just ask you about the Duronic wireless HDMI sender.

What do you think of them and what is the quality/range like?

Where they easy to setup or were they a bit of a hassle?

Contemplating getting a set to send my Sky HD signal/Xbox/Blu Ray Player to another tv in another room across the hall and just worried about distance and quality plus its alot of money to spend on relatively new technology.

Thanks,
Neil

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks, it hasn't actually arrived yet !!

Thanks for your interest !

Hey BruceH,

Any update on the Duronics Wireless HDMI Sender, would be interested to find out if does a good job.

Cheers

Sorry to say it's still not arrived.
It was despatched a while ago but I suspect it is coming direct from China.
It is scheduled for delivery next week.
I promise I'll update the thread when I get it.

Sorry it took me so long to report back, but I wanted to give the wireless HDMI sender a fair trial before I reported back.
Set it up initially with the sender in the cabinet with my equipment and the receiver in a cabinet below the TV.
Seemed to work ok initally, but as soon as I opened my laptop it interfered and the picture broke up badly.
As a test, I removed the transmitter from the cabinet (away from all the other devices) and put it behind the sofa.
Interference was dramatically reduced, but unfortunately it just wouldn't perform reliably enough.
It required frequent "reboots" to get the picture back and it was subject to occasional picture interference.
when it worked, it looked great, but just not good enough when it's purpose is to replace a piece of wire. Particularly when it costs a couple of hundred pounds.

Mainly a picture update as some of the pictures were out of date.
I've also recently had a new kitchen fitted.
Managed to get some in ceiling speakers as part of it, and a Squeezebox touch on the windowsill.
Was going to add some photos of that, but there isn't really a lot to see !

Very tidy job mate, impessive kit too.

Do you use XBMC on your ipad to control the XBMC on your HTPC?

I use xbmc commander on iPad and iPhone to control xbmc on htpc.

Thanks.

I use xbmc commander on iPad and iPhone to control xbmc on htpc.

Thanks.

im also using xbmc commander also, but dont you find that the ip address on the htpc changes everytime you switch it on, thus needs entering into the configuration screen on xbmc commander?

how did you find a fix for this?

thanks

There would be two ways round this:

1. If you have a DHCP server in your router or on your network, you could set it to give a static assignment to the HTPC so it always gets the same IP address.
2. You could configure the network settings on the HTPC so it has a fixed address. You would need to ssh onto the HTPC using putty or similar:
see convert DHCP to static IP

I've just discovered that if you are running openElec rather than normal XBMC that you can use the openElec add-on to configure network settings without having to mess about in the Linux OS.
