Right click your desktop and change your wallpaper.

Then update and run your antivirus. Update your firewall. And use Firefox.

I also use Pest Patrol.

Good Luck!

Goto all programs "accesories" "system tools" " system restore" open this and you will be asked to choose a restore point from a calendar, these are created automatically by windows whenever changes are made to your system. when you ask windows to restore to one of these points its like turning back a clock to that date and time. it uses setting at that time before the changes which may have damaged your system were made. If this doesnt work try a post here
http://aol.invisionzone.com/index.php?act=idx They helped me many times, good luck.

thanks...I changed my wallpaper and rebooted but this pogram isn't wallpaper, it comes up between my icons and my wallpaper...I can't get rid, even after running antivirus and sypyware progs. it is there even when i aren't on the internet.

Am i going to have to get a computer guy to come have a look?

firstly try deleting the file itself, you said it was c:\windows\warnhp.html.

you may need to boot into safemode first, then delete the file in Windows Explorer.

If it doesn't come back and you AV/Firewall/Spyware soft is all up to date and doesn't find anything all well and good.

If it comes back then it's likely there is a hiden spyware process running at system boot somewhere that is opening up this page. Try these two approaches to find it

- Start\Run\MSConfig click on the startup programs tab and it should have an entry in there, just uncheck the box.

- Start\Run\Regedit\Hkey Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
Have a look in there for anything that doesn't look like soemthing you'd expect to be running and delete.

As always be careful what you delete when editing the registry.

It sounds like there is some active desktop HTML/webcontent running.

Turn off active desktop in the display settings.
To get to the display settings either,
Right click on a clean bit of the desktop and go properties
or
Start -> Control Panel -> Display

Once in there click on the 'desktop' tab click the 'Customise Desktop' button, go to the web tab at the top and then make sure nothing is clicked active here. You can delete all the stuff in there if you want too as its not necessary for windows.

If this is not the problem it sounds like a virus or spyware, but nothing i've come across before.

If he suggests to format your computer on first glance, then hes obviously a nuget out to get a quick ££ for the least effort, AVOID.

I had this one (or a variation of it) a while ago, do you have a red X in the system tray in the bottom right of the screen as well.

I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but will have a look in a minute. I had it with a couple of others (loaded a dodgy program accidentally) and managed to remove them all only for it to break my version of Windows so I was left no alternative but to format.

I think there are fixes out for it now though, will post here once I find them

Andrew

Edit: This is the one I had, is it the same?: http://www.delphifaq.com/faq/windows_user/f850.shtml

Thank you so much guys...I did all that you suggested, when I foud the file and deleted it I rebooted and although the message wasn't there, the screen just went white behind my icons...an anti spyware program also decided to install itself without my agreement and show up as a white cross in a red circle at the bottom right of my screen...I deleted that too and did what sbowler suggested and "wound the clock back" using system restore...it seems to have gone away now so thank you very much indeed...

Computers really do scare me sometimes!
