Spent my day off today watching films and I put on Jurassic Park. I cranked up my denon avr2200w and was blown away from the sound of my Dali zensors.

I've watched a few films on them but Jurassic Park blew me away considering it's an old film now it's been the best experience so far anyone else been blown away from a film you have said to yourself "wow this has been worth every penny

I had a few forum guys round at mine almost a year ago, and Phil kindly did me a demo disc with bass scenes on it. Every time I watch oblivion, and the hulk sonic cannons scene, I just think, WOW

You've got to get Master and Commander and play it with Neural:X if you have 5.1.2, the first battle scene will have you ducking for cover. My other recommendation would be Everest.

In the last month three friends that have visited have turned a "show me 10 minutes of something" demo of 13 Hours into three viewings of the whole film.

Whatever your opinions of the flag waving nature of the film itself there's no denying the picture and audio are top notch.

Deadpool did it for me, especially the last 20 minutes are so during the final fight scenes, play that at reference and tell me how good it is

My youngest grandsons favourite is Super 8. Conversation goes something like this.

Gramps put Super 8 on for me.
Fast forward to the train crash, play it loud.
You can turn if off now, train crash is over.

At which point I remove the cotton wool from my ears.

I've recently had my wow moment( or a few of them) when I connected my new SVS PB-2000 subwoofer, ran ARC and watched the opening scenes from The Hurt Locker, Dredd and a scene from Dark Knight when Joker blows up the hospital. None of those were at reference level but close to that and all I could say wad just wow, even my wife was well impressed and she usually doesn't notice/care about the quality of sound.

That's why I've got a REL sub that doesn't really blow your socks off with ultra deep bass. I swear I can see the wife looking at it and thinking 'pick a window, you're leaving!'

Maybe I'm a bit jaded after nearly 20 years messing about with home cinema (a ProLogic Aiwa was my first 'surround sound' system), but I've managed a few 'that's quite good' moments lately. :D I watched 'The Hateful Eight' at the weekend and had it upmixed to Neural:X. There was wind howling all around my room and horses neighing, even behind the sofa which is surprising because I'm running 5.4.4 so there aren't any speakers behind the sofa...Similar with the Jason Bourne film which was in native DTS:X, crowd scenes really enveloping the listener.

I'm kind of over the whole big thundering bass scenes demo cliche, but even so there have been a few decent rumblings that have caught my ears, including the JB mentioned above, parts of Deadpool and the start of Spectre which I just put on for a quick set up check. It's more when I hear a nice clear and warm bass guitar on a film/concert that it makes me smile and the pain of installing extra subs begins to fade...
