I partly agree but you could say the same thing about the Original Xperia Z owners when the Z1 came along.

I'm mighty tempted with this myself even though I have a Nexus 5 :D

Oh I like this. I was torn between my G2 and a Z1, but picked the G2, but now I like the look of this!

Tempted to sell mine and buy one of these!

Saw it was 599 on the Sony site but imagine it will erode fairly rapidly.

      Xperia™ Z2 | Android Phone - Sony Smartphones (UK)

Keen to find out if they've fixed the intelligent auto mode, would love an Android phone that takes as consistently good photos as an iPhone.

Somewhat amusing the pelters Samsung get over the S5 being the same old yet Sony have somehow managed to release near enough the same handset three times in a little over a year !

Just the little things help with this over the Z1 imo - smaller side bezels and the way the screen and on screen buttons look, without the shaded dock, give the impression of much more space and make the bottom bezel look more balanced - picture below shows it perfectly. phpu25hfh.jpg .

Z1 camera was pretty decent and imo this looks a much better quality product all round than the S5 - tempted to pick one up when launched.

I remember reading a few months ago Samsung were going to launch a premium F series smartphone, haven't heard anything since though.

I got the Z1 and was really disappointed so sent it back. This seems to improve all of the problems I had with the Z1 (poor screen & sound direct from speakers. Also wasn't happy with the camera without having to mess with settings each time). Can't wait for people to get these so I can see if they really are a lot better. The phone is really nice looking and premium feel. I think hopefully this is my next phone of choice.

Perhaps the price (£599) would have seemed a little more reasonable if it had things like a fingerprint scanner ...

IMO it really doesn't make a difference - they are so limited in their use and if my experience on my 5s is anything to go by, they're unreliable and inconsistent too!

At the moment I think the fingerprint scanner is something just to impress your mates at the pub (or make you look silly when it fails) :p

I've a iPhone 5S 32gb and was seriously considering switching to this for a change.

Problem for me is it's £599 for just 16gb which is pretty suicidal against the iPhone.

I'd probably get about ... What... £450 for my iPhone. £150 and all the hassle of being mid contract and possibly needing to ask EE to switch sims. Not worth it for me :(

      ---

It would have needed to be £499 or even £599 with 32gb built in (none of this external card stuff) to get me to switch to Android (which I dislike and still feels cheap and fake to use to me)

This phone is seriously tempting me, also impressed by what I have seen of the tablet. Currently have a Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 7 2012 tablet. Last non Nexus device I owned was the HTC One X and sold it due to becoming impatient waiting for operating system updates. How are Sony in regard to updates to the latest version of Android and any chance of Sony being involved in this years Nexus devices?

Think I will either take the Clove offer or buy from Amazon.de as it'll work out roughly £493 :)

Would there be any issue with warranty as it isn't a "UK" handset?

Hadn't thought of that, I don't know. I suppose its not worth the saving if there would be hassle. Plus wouldn't get the speaker.

      Oh :/

Will have to buy from Clove then. Luckily Clove is based just down the road from me, so I'll ask them if I can collect the handset so I don't have to wait in for a courier. :)
