MVK files played on PS3 *some* no sound?

I used tsMuxeR to convert my .mvks files to .m2ts as someone suggested.

It did a great job of muxing the files very quickly. I converted a lot of the files and stored them over to my NAS drive. Brought it over to my uncles PS3 *i dont own one* and got the PS3 to pick up the video files.

I tried on converted .m2ts file and it work perfectly with sound.

However some didn't seem to play any sound. Here are the details of the file:

On the PS3 - the sound goes into an AV reciever which should be able to handle all of those formats. It goes through via optical cable and the options on the PS3 is switch on

The picture works perfectly but sound doesn't on some files. I've changed the settings back to HDMI and that works file on all files.

Was it converted wrong? Doesn't the AV reciever accept A_DTS or the PS3 doesn't pick them up?

PS3 will only play back DTS audio streams form AVCHD folders on a disk or on optical media.

Use mkv2vob to remux the DTS into AC3 unless you're going to put the AVCHD folder (as Uridium says) on a physical disc or a USB stick/HDD (even then use mkv2vob).

So if i move the file off the NAS drive onto an Ipod(hdd) and split up the file to 4GB or less then it will play back on the PS3 perfectly?

I've used MKV2VOB and had bad experiances with it as in it take sooooooooo long.

Only if it's either converted to AVCHD (only way get DTS audio playback from non Optical media) or remuxed with MKV2VOB into either AC3 or PCM audio. (note PCM audio will only work if your PS3 is connected to a sound system via HDMI)

MKV2VOB has been updated a lot recently and isn't so fussy on video transcodes now.

Your only (easy) option is to either use mkv2vob to convert to an AVCHD folder structure. Either USB (in which the PS3 is fooled into playing it as a disc and therefore handles DTS-playback) or to disc and burn on a DVD or Dual Layer DVD (if the resultant file is too big).

Either that or you'll have to remux the DTS to AC3 using mkv2vob and selecting the "file" output type and leaving the "Use PCM instead of AC3" unchecked - this is important as you state you're connected via Optical cable, and this cannot handle the PCM bitrate required.
