What is a Vision V40-104? TV, STB or what?

Sound settings Pal B,D,I etc refer to analogue broadcasts. There are no analogue broadcasts in Europe now except on some cable systems in Ireland, Germany, and possible elsewhere.

If you are not on one of these it is not relevant.

It appears that it's an RF modulator as per the thread title:) and Here but it seems that it's for analogue TV if that makes a difference. But it seems that it should work as it just requires a video and audio input.

About - Vision Products Suggest you contact them for a copy of the manual. Current model is a 114, but manual not available online that I can see.

Other than that, one Bill Wright of Wright's Aerials fame has been known to e-mail a photocopy to people via the uk.tech.digtal-tv newsgroup in the recent past; so asking there may get you one.

My guess would be it is via a sub-menu accessed through the front channel setting up down buttons... press both together perhaps?

You need to look up the sound carrier frequency for the PAL system you want to use. From the spec

Sound Sub-carrier Frequency: ±2.25MHz max. In 0.25MHz steps

How you change the setting I have no idea.

It's just as relevant as the built in modulator in a sky-HD box. Connected to a composite video and analogue audio source it produces a PAL TV channel using the UHF carrier channel of your source (one that doesn't clash with the channels used by the local digital transmitter).

    Sound carrier frequencies from

    PAL - Wikipedia

(B/G/H, I and D/K) use different sound carriers (5.5 MHz, 6.0 MHz 6.5 MHz respectively)

It's output is simply tuned into using the legacy PAL tuning capability of any remote TV connected to the output. UK sourced TV's require the PAL I audio carrier (6.0MHz).

Have a look on this thread. It seems someone called Bill has the instructions who may copy them to you.

thanks for the replies yes I want to change it to Pal I, there are two screw dials but they don't appear to make a difference so it could be a fault I don't know for sure unless someone can confirm how to change the sound types.

    Thanks again.

:thumbsup:Good find. I'd lay money on it being the same device re-badged. Wonder who actually makes it. ;)
and I was right on how to access the setup by pressing + and - together

NB Pal M & N require different colour subcarrier offsets as well as the sound carrier so the 'presets' it uses is sensible.

@Guy 286 - the variable controls are signal level controls and are mentioned in the manual linked to; however without suitable test equipment it will be a suck it and see process to do. Maybe start with them 'in the middle', and work from there?

Thank you very much I really did try searching :)

Now I have a confession :( mine is not made by vision its Mvision the reason I put Vision V40-104 is because if looks very similar and the Vision V40-104 seems more common

but holding both buttons doesn't seem to work so I guess its either a fault or this Mvision one witch I believe is Italian is not cable of changing modes :(

    Thanks everyone :)

Edit:If theres no objection can I change Thread title to Mvision and see if there is anymore info?

Modulator VHF \/ UHF with display Mvision ????? This the one?

Looks to be a Spanish design and may be PAL B/G only by design (as some sold here are suited for the UK's PAL-I format only).

You could try asking the eBay seller / company above for a copy of the instruction booklet?
