Does anyone own one of these beasts!! heard one, or better still compared it to something else in its price range? I am thinking of upgrading... are they made here or in Taiwan/China like the X & A series?

Can't answer your questions, but the only thing I'll say about MF stuff is wait 6 months (or less) and buy it cheaper when they release the upgrade/replacement. MF stuff is good but has a shorter life span than the average PC! :D

We have one in the shop (and have sold a couple). It's a VERY good piece of kit and we use it on the end of the B&W 800 series on a daily basis. Damn heavy though. Hoping that the new CD player is as good.

They launch new ranges pretty much every year to maintain interest, hence how cheap the trivista stuff is now.....I would expect the KW to be replaced in 06.

    Cheers

No - just an observation about MF and the speed of product change, as I said, it is good stuff but it does date rapidly, both technically & stylistically. If we take the KW Phono, in this months Hi-Fi News review "...we have been told that MF plans to offer a wider selection (cartridge impedance loads) on a future revision...."

MF have gone on record as saying they feel they need to continually release new stuff to generate interest, at least they don't follow the all to often used Japanese formula of a new box with the same content though. It does however produce a vibrant S/H market. :smashin:

has anyone compared the Tri Vista to the KW500, having seeing one in the I am pretty sure that the TriVista is much better built than the Kw500... You would have thought around the £4000.00 mark you'd have loads of amps to choose from... but I'm finding it very difficult, any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with the KW500 just be aware that the residuals will be poor. Tri Vista is now only available used and will cost you around £2k - and there are quite a lot of them around. There are loads of amps in that price range, e.g. Levinson 383, Gryphon Callisto 2200, or Chord 3300 integrated all of which are circa £3-£3.5k ex dem or used.

I have listened to the chord INT but found it too polite for me, how is the Levenson? Also I will be buying new, I cannot do with the hassel if something goes wrong. I am trying to stay away from the traditional Valve's I.E Pathos, EAR, Graff.... I need something that sounds powerfull with loads of authority something to grab the music by the B*LLs. I would love to get a brand new un-touched Tri Vista.

problem with krell is that we pay almost double what its cost in the states, and if I went for a pre & Power it would cost a fortune, secondly an integrated which I've heard is great but adding a power amp later on will be really costly.

I've looked at the Classe stuff look tempting but unless you go for the INt its £2995 a piece.
