Music you just want to switch off

Just been shopping at my local Sainsburys and the TV displays bursts into life with the Pet Shops Boys and the awful Monkey Business. I nearly threw a frozen chicken at the nearest screen. Monkey Business! I wish that pair would bugger off to the Amazon rain forest (if there's anything left).

A frozen chicken hurled at the pet shop boys? :rotfl::laugh:

I’d pay to see that.

Most of the audiophile s*** they play at shows.

Mind, Kef's Kraftwerk 'show' was cool..

You mean quality music played by sober people?! ;)

U2 have the thinnest screechiest sound. I never understood why such a successful band could not afford a good recording engineer, or just didn't care.

Do you mean an album in particular? Or is it the vinyl that sounds thin? Achtung Baby on CD sounds fine to me. Some tracks in Zooropa sound a bit muffled by design I guess. I doubt that U2 did not care about their sound.

Can't honestly think of any sort of music that I 'can't' listen to.

I struggle with talentless musicians, rap, hiphop, boy bands who sit about on Marshall amps attempting to convince the public that they have some guitar playing ability.

I do struggle with opera too, though I do enjoy classical orchestra music.

The biggest compliment anybody ever paid me was I was among friends in a pub, a song came on, somebody asked who the artist was and somebody replied, ''Dunno, ask eddy, he's into all the weird stuff'', (meaning ask me). Saying this summed his musical ignorance up perfectly, ergo, if he doesn't like it then it must be rubbish. And of course I knew who it was, I aren't ignorant, I appreciate that there is no such thing as 'crap' music, if it puts a smile on somebodys face, then all well and good.

Having said that, I do agree with what others have said here, X Factor offends me, its an insult to my integrity as a human being. Britains Got Talent, that cuts close to the bone too, was really glad when I read a dog had won it one year.

On another note. Sometimes music is dependant on where you are etc. I would never listen to any sort of 'dance' music at home, its shallow, meaningless, contrived and clearly intended for a specific venue and state of mind, people enjoying themselves, socialising and dancing, and that's all good to me.

That doesn't mean to say I wouldn't listen to it, it simply means there's a time and place for that sort of 'music'

What worries me is when I see some brain job driving to work listening to dance music in his car. Just my opinion.

Oooo I gets much more aggressive...

Maybe some Angerfist? NSFwimps!

Sacrilege.
Seriously thinking about reporting you for posting a link to such utter rubbish:D

Reading the comments about rap on here reminded me of the 1st time I heard the term "rap" - on the sleeve notes of an early '70s Tom Waits album (can't remember which one) and he's always been cooler than a well digger's ass (and you bet I'm still a virgin but it's only 25 to 9... )
Rap is way older than just the '80s

I don't think it should be called music..it sounds like boring sound effects to me.

I’ve been a big rap and hip hop fan in the 90s and 00s but in recent time it’s just...well...no! Not sure what’s changed. Now I’m mostly about rock and electronica but I enjoy all genres...just not rap and hip hop. 90% seems to be so simplistic in its production too

Anything by Stormzy and most rap.

I just don't 'get' rap music at all. Strangely, I never seem to see any sheet music from rap artists at my local music library ...... perhaps its just too sophisticated to transcribe?

I don't get it either 😐

Hmmm......let's see now. My last five album purchases:

Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Lana Del Rey - Norman F*cking Rockwell
Tennis - Swimmer

@drummerman - I would unreservedly implore you to allow the dulcet tones of the leading ladies of these particular recordings into your life. It'll be much the richer for it my friend:lesson: .

I'll give it a very careful few seconds.
