After Depeche Mode released Music for the Masses and Violater on SACD I had to buy them again.

I'd almost forgotten what good albums they are.

Just Speak & Spell to get now!

Wierd! I just picked that up myself! Only the awareness re-issue, but still odd how a thread set both of us off to get the live album! Great LP, and the only way to get a feel of what Roy Harper is all about - awesome live performances.

Electric Light Orchestra..... I hadn't listened to their stuff for years, but have recently been enjoying their The Ultimate Collection on CD... A most underestimated classic band in my opinion. Some cracking tunes though..

    Disc 1

    Hold on tight
    Rock 'N' roll is king
    Calling America
    I'm alive
    Confusion
    Last train to London
    Do ya
    Showdown
The way life's meant to be
    Turn to stone
    Here is the news
    Evil woman
Can't get it out of my head
    Shine a little love
    Strange magic
    Twilight
    Wild west hero
    Nightrider
    Xanadu

    Disc 2

    Don't bring me down
    Livin' thing
    All over the world
    Mr. Blue sky
    Sweet talkin' woman
    Don't walk away
    10538 Overture
    Secret messages
    Ticket to the moon
    Telephone line
    Ma Ma Ma Belle
    Rockaria
    Getting to the point
    Across the border
    Roll over Beethoven
    So serious
    Illusion in G Major
    The diary of Horace Wimp
    Four little diamonds

I certainly recommend it to anyone, young or old :smashin:

    Tim :)

Top 50 guilty secret songs revealed

Top spot goes to the Electric Light Orchestra's Livin' Thing.

Why:confused: its really quite good. Of the ELO's Showdown is one of my all time favourite of any hit record.

Re-Roy Harper I never heard much of his stuff but I sure once I was out in the car listening to the radio and heard a brilliant haunting guitar track called something like The Messiah Must Come by Roy Harper. Is this right? If so can someone link me to a site that I can listen to a snippet of it?

Thanks for the links:smashin: , but from the samples I played it does not sound like what I heard, the one I was thinking about was an instrumental and I think acoustic guitar, the music Im thinking of is similar to the opening of Thin Lizzy'a Parisian Walkways.

That's a great piece of music :smashin: Reminds me of Gary Moore, one of my favs.

I recommend Gary Moore and the Midnight Blues band - Blues Live album.

I noticed The Blue Nile - Headlights on the parade, was on that site too... Superb stuff !

Strangely enough I haven't listened to Roy Buchannan for years either. I used to have a couple of his albums but sold them when I finally got rid of my turntable and vinyl.
Anyway, I'll have to look him up again.

an album i have just rediscovered after over 18years is simple minds - sons & fascinations.
by far and away my favourite of theirs and the album that got me into them when i was around 13. i understand its qualities and like it more now.
totally different to later simple minds material and well produced by steve hillage.
    thanx
