Music onto PSP

Hi, an elementary problem, but I can't fathom it out: My little boy has been trying for ages to get music onto his PSP but it never works. It looks to have transferred onto the machine, but when he goes to the music folder, it is empty. He has been trying to get music from i tunes program and the music are mp4 files. Any help will be greatly appreciated and a "dorky" dad could become hip and cool if it's sorted.

All my itune music files are in mp3 at 160 kbps.

Load up itunes, go into Preferences, go to Importing, choose MP3 Encoder, leave preferences, highlight the track you want, go to Advanced in the itunes menu, go to convert selection to MP3, highlight converted MP3 track drag to desktop, open MUSIC folder in PSP on the desktop, drag the MP3 track into the PSP MUSIC folder. Done.
