Long shot this but we watched Predator again tonight and there is a piece of music in it that is played several times, especially near the end that I know from something else.

The piece is a haunting trumpet solo and is a little like The Last Post and is played when thinking about the ones who died.

I don't suppose that anyone can recall the piece that I am thinking of and put me out of my misery by telling me where else the music has been used.

Thanks for the link. I didn't realise that the bloke was such a prolific writer but I still don't know where I have heard that piece before.

I think I know the piece you mean . Just after the final fight as he walks out of the smoke ?

It does sound familiar & with the sort of "last post" as you say tone, I'm sure it's a film with military theme.

Inthink it may be one of those piceces of music that sounds so much like something else that you think you have heard it before, but is is an original piece of music from the film. Am I right in thinking that it is also the peice of music used when the sergent is saying ggod buy to Blain and laying the hip flask on his body after he has been killed?

That's the piece but it is also repeated a couple more times too. It may have been an original piece to this film but has since been used elsewhere and it is a source of annoyance that I can't think where I know it from.

If I can't think of it I will just have to sit their listening to it playing again and again in a loop until it clicks.

Isn't the music cue used again in Predator 2 at Rueben Blades funeral?

The Silvestri scores fro both movies were very good. Shame he wasn't asked to help out on AVP.

That's the piece and hopefully now that you have reminded me about it so that I will be worrying about it for a few more days you will put me out of my misery and tell me what else it has been used in. A scifi series on TV is lurking at the back of my mind but I could be miles out.

It sounds familiar but I don't know where from. I was hoping that someone else may hear it now and be able to put us out of our misery !
