Can anyone recommend some good music DVDs in Dobly Digital or DTS which will really show off the surround sound to its full effect.

Also where's the best place to buy music DVDs online.

Asre most music DVDs simplay remixed to prodice 5.1 surround or are there any that are actually recorded in surround?

'Cunning stunts' by Metallica is brilliant. Depends if it's your type of music.
That's the best one I've heard. You can get it for £12.39 including P+P here:

http://www.hmv.co.uk/dime
code is DM30704931

Orbital's 'The altogether' was specially mixed for 5.1 but it's not a great album!

Stop Making Sense, by Talking Heads is truly outstanding. It has two 5.1 arrangemenst on the disc. A/ Live Theatre. B/ studio.
recognised as the best live concert film ever made, even before the 5.1 business.
I found it in HMV recently for only £6.99, gotta keep your eyes peeled.
Another might be James, Getting Away With It. A recording of their farewell gig at MEN Arena.
Finally, The Super Furries last album is pretty good too.

Good Luck !!!

The Last Waltz by The Band

Neil Finn & Friends 'Live at the St James' in Auckland is a very good disc as well.

Lots of good music, plus it sounds awesome.

Having Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder (pearl jam) and 2 of the guys from Radiohead in his session band just make it even better.

Definitely one to buy.

Scorpions-"acoustica" this is one of the best sounding music dvd
i've heared.it has dts and dd.

great stuff

carl

Would if to agree with Carl, Scorpions-"acoustica" is great, also try The Dance by Fleetwood Mac.

Difficult when you dont say what type of music you like but regardless if you want to best audio IMHO there is still nothing to beat Hell Freezes Over - The Eagles in DTS ...
Other faves which sound "almost" as good would be
Unplugged - The Corrs
Symphonic Live - Yes
Live In The Flesh - Roger Waters
Live In Concert - Dave Gilmour (great show not so sure about the sound though)
Paul ;)

Try Sting's Brand New Day dts 5.1 cd.
You can get it here:http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/
select "Audio" from the merchandise column on left
then select "Digital cd" from the browse colomn also on left.
I've got dozens of dts sound dvd's and cd's and
this is, in my opinion, the best surround mix you can get.
You won't be dissapointed.
It plays on any region dvd player but, as it is mixed in dts 5.1
only, you must have a dts capable amp to listen to it.

Surely this is just a matter of opinion - I think it is a fantastic album! :)

Larisa Stow's Moment by Moment dts 5.1 cd is the only
studio album to be recorded specificly in 5.1 surround and
quite a pleasent sounding cd it is too - she sounds a bit
like Alanis Morissette. A few live concerts like the Eagles Hell
Freezes Over have also been recorded in dts 5.1 but all studio
albums apart from the above have been re-mixed.
Nothing wrong with that though!

The Corrs - Unplugged
The Corrs - Live At Lansdowne Road
The Corrs - Live In London (DTS)
Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps (DTS)
The Band - The Last Waltz

Diana Krall - Live In Paris (DTS) ; Probably the best sounding DVD I have heard to date, the sound is jaw droppingly good !

I love Neil Young, The Band and The Corrs ( especially Andrea :) ), but I must be the only person on the planet who uses the Diana Krall as a coaster, OK it is well engineered, but it's naff. ( She looks edible though ).

Roy Orbison Black and White Night - DD and DTS 5.1 (as well as PCM)

I've just splashed out on three music DVDs but have only had time to sample them.

The Who at the Royal Albert - DD and DTS
Initially I was disappointed with the sound having read that it was great. But when I got to Magic Bus I was bowled over - superb sound and great performance on bass and lead guitars. The disc just seemed to get better as I listened.

Elton John at Madison Square - DD and DTS
Awesome opening track to get things shaking. Sound quality good. At times the performance is a bit lacklustre but overall not bad.

Deep Purple Come Hell or Highwater - DD only
Oustanding performance from these old cronies but Coverdale's voice just can't reach those highs anymore, hence Child in Time is disappointing. Sound seems more like stereo than 5.1

Couple of others/
Alice in chains - Unplugged - captures the atmosphere of this gig nicely
Don Henley - live inside job - good DTS track
Cheap Trick - Silver - awesome 2 disc set of their 25th anniversary show
Tricky - A Ruff Guide - esp` the track `For Real`in 5.1
S.O.D. Stormtroopers of Death - `Speak english or live`- 2 live shows, awesome!!! the best music disc available bar none :D

check out www.cdwow.com for music dvd`s and dvd`s in general.great prices and quick delivery. just make sure of the disc region suites as they aren`t always region2
