After reading lots of reviews and lurking through forums ( thanks to ChrisGeo) I decided Sony 26V4000 is the best I can get for my max budget of £400.
I have seen the TV on Amazon for £385 and at Richer Sounds for around £360.
Obviously I wanted to buy from Richer Sounds as it's cheaper and I don't mind driving half an hour to their shop.
Surprise surprise , it's impossible to find the TV anywhere at their shops . I called Guildford branch yesterday and they said they will get a batch this Friday. Called them again today and they said maybe next week Tuesday.
The biggest surprise I had calling at Reigate branch . I told them the model I was after and the guy told me that Sony doesn't manufacture TVs anymore as they are doing PS3 now so all their budget is going in that direction. I could barely stop myself laughing and I asked him what he recommends . He said the best is a Sharp which "luckily" they got it in stock.
I called the Reading branch and I was in for another surprise. This time they tried to convince me that LG is far better and superior to Sony . He even told me Sony is using LG Panels . I told him I heard about Samsung panels being used by Sony but not LG and as far as I know LG has poor black and strong back light bleeding. He said probably those are 3 years old models .
However I decided to get one from Amazon . What really troubles me is having this sort of guys giving " expert advice" . I do hope somebody from Richer Sounds reads this and be embarrassed by the poor training some of the guys can have.
Probably it is a part of the strategy to come with the cheapest prices on the web so they can get you in and fool you with some rubbish .
