Multiswitch install

As we can't get digital terrestrial I have got a multiswith and a quattro LNB so that we can have STBs in several rooms. I have put all the cables in place but not yet connected them all up so we are still on the original LNB with one STB in the lounge.

When I come to change the LNB is it just a matter of taking the old one off and putting the new one on or do I need to do anything else?

You may need to adjust the dish slightly vertically,

Quad lnbs with cabling can be significantly heavier than a single and some dishes have arms that are more flexible than others.

Don't forget to waterproof the connections with self amalgamating tape (or rubber boots if supplied with the lnb) DO NOT use ordinary electrical tape or silicon sealant.

Good point! I will check the signal before and after and make adjustments if necessary.

I did get some self amagamating tape ready to do this project.

Better off with weather boots than tape -- look on Ebay for them!

Quatro LNBs are different to Quad LNBs so make sure you have a Quad instead. You may need a reducing adapter for the LNB if you have the older pole mounted dishes.

I have a quattro LNB as that's what I need for the multiswitch.

What's wrong with tape?
