I have just got myself the Denon AVC A11SR (though it is broken already....see another thread). I am wanting to use the multi room output of the amp and was under the impresison that you could assign surround back speaker set B to do this job instead of using another amp and connecting it to the multi room pre out. Unfortunately because it has to go back to be fixed I cant fiddle around with this and find out. Speaker assignment doesn't seem to be covered in the manual. Can anyone confirm what they have done? If I need another amp I want to sort it out while this one is being fixed.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Hi Dan

You have to go into the Setup menu and assign the Power amps to Multiroom instead of Surround Back. It means you can only have 5.1 in one room and 2 ch in another, you lose EX/ES capability as the surround back amps & terminals are used for the multiroom. Or you can get a seperate amp and go that route (multizone).

Surround B is a different thing, thats for connecting a 2nd pair of surround speakers so you could have Dipoles as Surround A for movies, monopoles as Surround B for music etc or run Surround A&B together (though it sounds a bit naff for movies). They share the same amplification though.
