The system is designed to be wall mounted and features a low-profile High Definition LCD display flanked by two glass NXT flat panel loudspeakers shown in an anti-reflective coated black finish.

A few other NXT-based products were also debuting at IFA, including Philips’ latest range of ‘Cineos’ LCD TVs. All the models in the range incorporate monolith-type NXT SurfaceSound loudspeakers, which are claimed to deliver ‘a clean, uncluttered design and an impressive audio performance’.

LG Electronics, meanwhile, was showing off its XCanvas lifestyle home theatre system. This system comprises a 50” Plasma display, a 5.1 channel NXT-enabled surround sound system, integrated DVD and VCR master unit and a complementary storage system for the TV, master unit, subwoofer and NXT centre channel loudspeaker.

Elsewhere, Logitech showed its new mm28 portable NXT-equipped loudspeaker, which goes on sale later this year, while NXT manufacturing licensee Every Bright used IFA to demonstrate its latest range of audio systems featuring NXT SurfaceSound.

I am looking to buy a new surround-sound system. Our lounge is fairly small. The existing speakers all wall-mounted but tend to protrude more than I would like. Floor-mounted are out of the question. The fairly good reproduction of my Advent PC speakers has led me to think something similar ought to be available for a surround-sound system. Is there anything of this nature on the market?

    Regards, Snowballpals.
