    Hi All,
    I currently have

    sky(not +) - SCART
    Xbox - Component
    DVD Recorder - Component

A rather old Acoustic Solutions 5.1 surround setup.

Now, I'd like to connect it all to my LG PX11 plasma through a shiny new A/V amp.

    Ideally I'd like to do:

    sky video-rgb scart-amp
    sky audio-twin phono-amp
    xbox video-component-amp
    xbox audio-optical-amp
    dvd video-component-amp
    dvd audio-optical/yellow single plug(forget the name)-amp

    amp-component-plasma
    amp-existing speakers or new speakers???

Wife friendly would also be a help :)

Now I'd like to do all this as cheap as possible, which amp or amp/speakers would you bods recommend?? I saw this

    http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1926

but has no scarts so I wouldn't know how to get sky into it?

    Appreciate any help!!! :smashin:

How budget can you get?? :)
Is there any other way to get the signal out of my sky box then without too much loss of quality? I'm quite happy with the sky pic as it stands through rgb scart into rgb scart on the LG so if the worst came to the worst then I could leave that as it is and just route my other sources through the amp, would like to get it all into one of the pseudo hi def inputs on the plasma if I can though.

I just attempted to sky - rgb scart - yamada dvr8000 - component - px11 but it only works when the dvd player is switched on, I was hoping it would just pass through when it was off. The panel did report 576?p though the pic seemed better.

<edit> I'm also going to have to take into account aspect ratio switching as well I suppose or the missus'll go spare  </edit>

You could use a RGB - YUV convertor IIRC keene sell them for around the £70 mark I'm using one and am very pleased with the results... I'd recomend the Denon AVR 1905 or its Yamaha rivals all of them are very similar and also extremely good.

Just cheap 5:1 or preferably 7:1, I'm not an audiophile so even an all in one with dvd player could work?

Am nearly at 600quid with that lot - was hoping for something more like <£200 as the missus is making us have french doors and decking this summer :(
Anything more around that price range? from RS or something?

    Sorry guys, appreciate the help.

Thanks for the offer mate but if its possible I'll probably just keep my Acoustic Solutions ones. Assuming of course that I'm understanding correctly when I think that I can put all my sources into an av amp (audio and video) then output video through the component into my plasma and the sound through an optical cable into my current AS 5.1? If that is the case I'm really just looking for a cheap av amp. This could be easier couldn't it :)

The amps dont do progressive scan its the dvd player/source that does.

Have you a link for your acosoustic solutions unit you own. The cantons will blow it out of the water for sound and quality though and at the bargain price its worth every penny.
