Has anybody managed to reproduce the type of zone distribution seen on kit such as the Creston products?

How about a pc plus a squeeze box in each room you could use powered speakers if you want to avoid an amp like those made for the QED multi room system

My suggestion would be to look at Xantech - they are the world leaders in IR distribution and have a number of products to give multiroom and milti source distribution. What ever product you choose I would suggest you wire youre house with cat5 everywhere - almost all the multizone products (creston, amx etc) will use this. You can also use this for lighting control (ie Lutron) and then you will be able to control heating, lighting, music, video, CCTV/security, and lots of other things from one remote!

I originally had quotes from £50k to over £100k but in the end brought in various specialist people to do the things I couldnt and got the price down to under £20k (including the equipment).
