    Just thinking - shock . . .

    multi-region on a dvd-recorder with hd

would this only allow the normal playback capabilities of the dvd

but NOT any clever copy dvd to hd type functions due
    to the PAL/NTSC prob

thinking its of less use on a recorder than a straight dvd-player

    hope this makes some sense

Multii-region only means it will not reject playing a disc due to the region code, it doesn't give you anything special with PAL and NTSC.

Virtually all PAL DVD players will play a NTSC disc. Some DVD recorders allow you to record NTSC input (as NTSC), no recorders convert from NTSC to PAL.

Agree, unless you want to use the DVD-recorder as a player for other region discs, you don't need it to be multi-region. You can't copy a copyrighted DVD anyway, and most region coded DVDs are also copyrighted, with CSS and Macrovision protection etc.

good comment re: copyright , for e.g. read the pioneer 530 can copy a dvd to the hd but i guess as u say , non copyright only (or use a backup)

be easier to have a seperate one for the non avergae stuff
