I've had a good search and managed to piece together a diy multi region DVD hack for my Panasonic BDT110EB blu ray player (the multi region is DVD only) using my Harmony remote.

There used to be a thread where people were sharing an Harmony account to do this but the account got closed.

This process uses Stuart's guide for adding pronto hex codes to your Harmony account:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/15347402-post1.html

The 10 pronto codes required to do the multi region hack on Panasonic DVD and blu ray players are:

Panasonic Code 1: 0000 0070 0000 0032 0080 0040 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0AA9

Add each code to a device (e.g. your dvd / bluray player) using Stuart's guide

Create an activity that includes that device and add the 10 commands to activity start with a 500ms delay in between each one (review activity settings -> Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity):
Panasonic Blu-ray Panasonic Blu-ray is on
Other All other devices are off
Panasonic Blu-ray "mr1" command is sent to the Panasonic Blu-ray
Panasonic Blu-ray The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic Blu-ray "mr2" command is sent to the Panasonic Blu-ray
Panasonic Blu-ray The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic Blu-ray "mr3" command is sent to the Panasonic Blu-ray
Panasonic Blu-ray The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
etc

update the remote.

For the panasonic the player needs to be on with no disc.
If the activity is set to switch the player on, then make sure you are already in an actvity that contains the player and then press the hack activity.

Once it finished the player rebooted and said HELLO and I tried a R1 disc that was blocked and it worked.

From what I've read those pronto codes will work on most Panasonic DVD / blu ray players.

This procedure should also work for other makes (Sony / Pioneer) if anyone can find the pronto codes and test them, then post them here along with any other steps that are specific to that player.

Thanks!
Got my BDT110EG codefree for DVD with the codes.

I joined AVForums just this minute to say:

b) It works on my Panasonic Blu-ray player DMP-BD85 (GNK)
b) A huge thanks!

Stoopid official Panasonic firmware update (1.70) b0rked my region-free, and not wanting to spend time or money on a specific remote or 'donating' money for hacked firmware, this was a boon.

Hi,
I tried unsuccesfully to do this with my BDT110:
Followed the guide to get each of the 10 different codes to the remote (did this two times to rule out errors in this step), ended up with 10 different commands (right?). Then created an activitiy with each of the 10 commands followed by a 500 ms pause. Turned the device on with the harmony. When I use the activity, the device turns off but doesn't reboot. When I insert RC1 discs it gives me the "wrong region" message.
Any ideas? Please help me out! Thanks...

When you say you turned on the device with your Harmony did you do that by manually pressing the power toggle in device mode or by starting an activity that includes the device?

If you learned the commands into the BDT110 device like I did then you need to already be in an activity that includes that device, then press the hack activity so that the Harmony doesn't try to power the device on or off.

Ok,
I think I was tired yesterday. I added only the 500 ms pauses as I thought you could add an command and at pause a the same time :)
To rule out any errors with the hex codes I entered them again twice. But it still won't work: I turn on the device with another activity: "Watch DVD". Then I use the "hack"-activity. The "Activities" button flashes for a while (ten times), then the TV goes off (="all other devices are off"?!). But after the activity is finished, nothing happens.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

It looks like that now:
Device Status / Actions
Panasonic DVD Panasonic DVD is on
Other All other devices are off
Panasonic DVD "RC01" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD
Panasonic DVD The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic DVD "RC02" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD

Panasonic DVD "RC03" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD
Panasonic DVD The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic DVD "RC04" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD
Panasonic DVD The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic DVD "RC05" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD
Panasonic DVD The remote pauses for 500 milliseconds
Panasonic DVD "RC06" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD

Panasonic DVD "RC07" command is sent to the Panasonic DVD

I have now followed the procedure and setup all the codes and activities on a Harmony 880 remote
and applied it to a Panasonic DMP-BDT310EG (European) Blue-ray working successfully.

Before applying, I tested a known region1 disk and it said "can't play this region".
After applying I could play both region1 and 2 discs DVDs OK. :)

Big THANKS! to monksy74 and Stuart and all you others for that. Saved by the bell. Now I could remove my old multi-region enabled DVD-player and run everything on the Panasonic.

Best regards

Many thanks Monksy74. Has taken me a little while to get this to work, but it now feels good to have got the player MR for nothing!

I have a Harmony One and the Activity failed to work properly for my Panasonic DMP-BDT310. So instead I just pressed the buttons on the touchscreen in order and that did the trick!

Hi all, I have a Harmony One and wish to multi region my Panasonic DMP BD35, (purchased in the UK but now in Australia). I'm following Stuart's instructions but don't seem to be able to get past step 8. (link below) I keep being forced to upgrade the Harmony software to version 7 and then not getting the option to enter the Hex code.

Do the instructions work on the new software version? Am I missing something here? thx

I had the same problem with my DBPBDT110 - the activity just turned off the DVD player before the commands could be sent. So I just sent the commands manually one after the other. Now to find a region 1 disc to see if it has worked!

Yeah - I read that but I must be too thick to understand it. At any rate the player rebooted after the last command so fingers crossed :)

Hi,

Just a note to confirm that it worked with my Harmony one to hack a european Panasonic BDT320 blu-ray player.
I programmed the 10 codes on individual soft buttons then pressed them in order (manually, I was lazy building a sequence, especially for a one time use), with an approximatively one second pause between each. All the rest went as described.

Thanks a lot!

If anyone has trouble following the instructions write to me, I'd be happy to help! :D

Good day all, :hiya: I have a Panasonic bdt210 and tried the codes as posted with my harmony 550. got every thing loaded to the harmony without much fuss and tried the activity route on the remote. When I put a region 2 DVD in I no longer get the wrong region error but now it says can not play? Region 1 works fine. Has anyone successfully hacked the 210? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
I know this post is really old but I'm hoping you can help me. I have a Harmony One remote and I'm trying to unlock the region on my Panasonic dmp-bdt320 blu-ray player. Stuart's instructions from the link in the original post did not work. When I clicked on the batch file, nothing happened. I found another site that gave instructions for entering Pronto codes on the Logitech site and they convert and save them. I created all the codes, added multiples of the same device to assign each code to, and added them to an activity. Needless to say, it didn't work :(.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!! I'm not sure how you assign the codes just to individual buttons but that sounds much easier than the other process.
Thanks!

Hi, I have exactly the same player as you but need to get it playing multi-region for DVD as I have some NTSC ones, I can`t understand any of the instructions here including a harmony remote? can you describe step by step what I do, thanks. :)

I used these codes to regionfree DMR-BWT720 and DMR-BW880. I put them into a config file for this Android Universal TV Remote (requires phone with IR capability, obviously!).

I manually copied the remote file into place using Android adb tool and I needed root to put it in /data/data/org.twinone.irremote/files/remotes_v3.

The remote has buttons numbers 1 thru 10. Just point at the device and push them one-by-one in order. Here's the file - rename it to remove the txt extension: it should be called DVD Region Free.remote.

Hope it's of use to someone :)

Anyone has had luck using this with a UB870?

I had Logitech add the 10 codes to my remote - I created an activity that starts the player, waits a minute, then send each code with one second delay between each.

At some point I get the option popup like when you click ok on the movie option in the main menu (i.e. basically asking me if I want to start a movie from sick or USB) and that's it.

I double checked the codes I sent to Logitech - no typos. Any idea?

Thanks!

I don't think it worked as an activity but I've not tried it on a newer player. I just press through them in sequence.

I did set each code on specific device keys as well and got the same result, pressing each button in sequence. Now I can also tell that this is the code 1 that gets me the movie option popup.
