MSN Virus

My mate has a virus with MSN that asks people for sex or to look at their websites everytime she signs on. She is going to reinstall it but if that doesn't work does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi

Yeah - usual routines to be carried out when a virus is spotted.

However, without knowing what anti-virus and anti-spyware and firewall is being used, and up and running - can't help much further!

Also, what OS is used?

Alan :)

Its messenger spam :suicide:

1. Go to Start, then Run and type in services.msc Click Ok
2. Scroll to Messenger, select it, right click it and choose Properties.
3. Under startup choose "Disabled", then choose Stop.
4. When stopped, click Ok.

You will still be able to run messenger witout the service running.

Anything half decent AV should be able to sort that out for you.

Pretty sure Spybot won't deal with a trojan if it is one. Try a free online scan at TrendMicro Housecall.

Sorry. But the messenger service and the messenger program are two different things.
