Just got the MS Premiere Plus & a Denon AVR-1804.

Reading through the Denon manual last night it states that speakers should be 6-16 ohms but the Premieres are rated at 4 ohms.

Is this a problem? I'm really confused now as I thought I would be able to pair those tiny speakers with just about anything. Frightened to connect it all up, so thinking of sending the amp back.

    Any advice greatfully accepted.

Never been a problem on any Japanese major amp- the 4ohm warning is really to prevent you using the big, insenstive 4ohm types (that really do pull a lot of current out). Premiere has run thousands of hours on dozens of receivers without an overload including on Denon 1802 and 03 so I cannot see yours being a problem.

Not naming names here but you'd be suprised by how many other manufacturers "8ohm satellites" are very similar to premiere in measument ;).

Thanks TOF - Thought you might drop in. :)

Thumbing the pages last night and got a nasty suprise. Pretty sure I'd seen people on here with the same setup but didn't want to fry anything before checking. TBH I just don't understand this ohm/watt/rms/db thing. It does mention something about an 'protection circuit' in the book, so hopefully that would come into play before too much damage was done.

Sure, but having a few problems atm - moved the NTL digi box last night and now it won't reboot - just says 'tune' on the front. So didn't actually get around to connecting the amp up.
