MP3 playback from DVD-R on Denon DVD1910?

I've just purchased a Denon DVD1910 for use with a Sharp LC26GA3. Picture quality with stock settings shows a marked improvement over component video from my Samsung HT-DS470 system (even with a bog-standard DVD-D cable). The only downer is that the Denon will not playback MP3 files from DVD-R (the disc format is rejected and I have to eject). I know that this is not an advertised feature on most DVD players (most are spec'd as supporting MP3 playbeack from CD only) ..... but both my budget Samsung and supermarket-special Pacific players owned by friends all support DVD-MP3.

Has anyone out there had any success playing DVD-MP3 discs on the Denon DVD1910?

I have the multi-region version (upgrade installed at the dealer) but have not checked the firmware version.

    Cheers
