I have a large collection of MP3 files and I am about to purchase a philips DVDR880, which I believe plays MP3 files. My question is, will the philips play MP3s recorded to a DVD+r/RW discs or only CDR/RW discs?

Should I be aware of any problems I may encounter in attempting to do this?

    Thanks

As this is quite a new thing to be doing, getting info seems difficult. Note that for some reason quite a few players do NOT support this (techies ? would seem simple enough to me !)

    Searching here : http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers with this string : http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=Philips+DVDR880&Submit=Search&Search=Search gives :

    Even more features :
    Kodak Picture CD/JPG image support
    MP3 long filename support
    MP3 ID TAG support

    DVD-MP3, MP3 on DVDR/W support? = NO

So no - MP3's do not seem to readable on DVDR - but this info is only based on (unconfirmed) user posts (and the 880 does not have many posts !). Not much help; sorry ! :(
