MP3 (and/or WMA) to HDD

Hi

Is it possible to copy MP3s from CD or DVD to HDD in these machines for a convenient music ability? Also do any of these machines play WMA files?

I'm specifically looking at the Sony HXD910 although the Panasonic EH60 may be moving up the ranks.

No I don't think this is possible on these machines.

It is possible depending upon the model you have.
If you put a disc (CD or DVD) of MP3s or WMA into some recorders with HDD they will allow you to copy on to the HDD and have some rudimentary playback "jukeboxes". Very rudimentary.
The LG 7500 and series are an example of this.
I think the Samsung ones and some of the Philips do, but have no experience of the panny / pioneer.
I'm sure some of the other makes like Liteon etc will offer similar facilities, but as I say certainly on the LG, whilst it is easy enough to find an album and to copy it to the CD, it is a pain in the neck to make a varied playlist!

I have the Pioneer DVR530, how do i copy my MP3's from CD-RW/-R to HDD.
How come This recorder doesnt like Mp3 on DVD discs???

well even some of the panasonics wont do 'DVD MP3' ...

and no, in the pioneer 530 manual *no reference* is made to copying MP3s... only how to play a MP3 CD...

you can only copy audio CDs, but then you *cannot* copy them back out again...
