I'm perfectly happy with my 725, I've had it for over 2 years. But I'm getting a plamsa soon :D :D :D , and I'd like to get a player with component outs.

The Sony N900 is a similar price to my original 725, and has got some good reviews. Any other ideas? I'm looking to spend around £400 - £700. not fused about RCE etc all my DVDs are R2.

    Thanks

    Martin

Does anybody know a site where I can get all the info I need about the Sony DVP-S735D??? ...and pictures of it!

btw, does the Sony DVP-S735D come as multiregion or does it only support R2?

735 is an awesome machine, with top class picture, but it does lack SACD, which most of the newer Sony machines do have.

Crutchfield.com seems to have the best site for pictures, stats and features of all AV equip give it a try.

If I was buying a new DVD player right now it would be between the new Sony DVP700 player and the 900 you have already mentioned.

The 900 is definately a sharper machine with SLIGHTLY better picture, but the price difference is huge also !

Personally I am waiting for a 400 DVD stacker with SACD from Sony. I hate having to touch my DVD's - so tempremenatl about dirt and fingerprints ect.

    Saturn,

The 735 is no longer made, if you can find one buy it. You will never have any disc problems with it. The picture quality is great. If mine goes belly up I wont know what player to go for as ive seen no other player come near the quality of the 735

I have replaced my 525D with a DVP N900V at £385 modded. Sevenoaks are doing it for £400 modded.

Thanks for all the ideas, and a BIG thanks to EffTee - I can't believe I didn't check for component out on my 725, I assumed it was too old!

I think I'll stick with good 'ol 725 until the replacement for the Toshiba SD900E comes out.

    :D

Well, after all the positive feedback about the 735, I finally went out and bought one today :)

It really is a Kick-Ass peace of machinery. Thank god I bought it, only 3500 dkr. which is 293£, brand new!

Anyway, I visited a site and it said that the 735 was a multiregion player. So when I got home a inserted one my Region 1 DVD's, it couldnt play it...?

Is it possible to play region 1 DVD's in the 735 or do have to have one those DVD kits installed...?

    Hope you can help :)

    hi Saturn82,
you should be very happy with your new toy. I've had mine now for more than a year and am very happy. But here are some tips to get the most from it:
    1. for the best picture on a TV use a RGB connection.
    2. turn off the image sharpening filters, good as they are they make the picture shaper but destroy the depth of field.
    3. The same with the contrast options, leave it as standard.

I've had mine chipped and haven't had a single problem disk yet.

I have a couple of complaints though.1. the jog dial on the remote has broken from no fault of mine.2. It doesn't output 24bit audio cd's. 3. it doesn't play cd-r but the way around that is to use cd-rw.

    marc :)
