i've just ordered a couple of dvd's from movietyme, and i thought since they accept paypal i'd use up some of my paypal balance, when i come to checkout, there's a surcharge for paypal, why can't they absorb this after all credit cards incurr a similar merchant fee :thumbsdow

Yeah, that annoyed me a bit as well. Surely as a merchant seller, they shouldn't have to charge fees. Very few sites accept PayPal, but I know Axelmusic does not charge you any fees as I got Star Wars Episode 3 pre-ordered and paid for from them. I've paid about 5quid in charges so far with Movietyme, but I swallow it as it's convenient to pay that way.

Sorry for this guys but Paypal charge alot higher rates than our Merchant Service provider for cc transactions... hopefully maybe now EBay have bought Paypal they will lower their charges but i doubt it.
Just hope Skype stays free too!

That's fair enough, Craig. To be honest, I'm glad you provide the payment method in the first place!

That has to be due to them being charged a fortune for credit cards then... so you could say they charge 2% surcharge for credit cards!

So Korean credit card processors are at LEAST 2% cheaper than UK/USA (where are MovieTyme based??) credit card processors? Do you know that www.dvdfromkorea.com offers a TWO PERCENT DISCOUNT for customors that use either www.paypal.com or www.moneybookers.com for payment. Do you also know that www.dvdfromkorea.com will REFUND YOUR CREDIT CARD IF YOU CANCEL YOUR ORDER? I should not pose that as a question because I don't suppose you would know that in the interest of your company Craig. However, that is the situation. OK, they only make available R3 DVD's, but they make them available at incredibly cheap prices. They do NOT charge a SURCHARGE for credit cards!

I think pretty much every company takes into account the Card handling fee (about 2.5% I think) they will have to pay when setting there price, so although they may not say as much - you are paying it.

It's pretty simple really. If you don't like Movietyme's terms and/or prices (or anyone else's for that matter) then buy elsewhere.

I believe Craig has properly answered the OP's question.
