I have been forced (due to high prices) to use Movietyme rather than Discemporium for some of my DVD purchases.

I ordered Accidental Spy (R3) from them 2 weeks ago. There webby at the time said they had stock. I got confirmation email from them and then diddly-squat.

Now the webby does not have Accidental Spy on it. I emailed them to see what's happened and have had no reply.
Are they always like this??

How do you get in touch with them?

yeah, there customer service is not the best. Try visiting the DVD FORUMS( LOOK IN THE SUPPLIER THREAD UNDER "THE UNNOFICIAL MOVIETYME THREAD" )and you can leave a message for Craig there who works for Movietyme.
mark

Went to the Forums....put in my query.

    No answer.
What is the general consensus about Movietyme?

It's the first time I have ordered from them

Yes I agree Ono, Disc Emporium have the best service out of all the suppliers. However they are a bit of a rip off! I stopped using them over a year ago now!

As for Movietyme, i've ordered 3 DVD's from them and ALL had problems.

    1) Jurassic Park DTS - Turned up 3 weeks after everyone else got theirs!

    2) Toy Story Toy Box - My DVD was lost somewhere along the lines and they had to send out another one. It took them a week and a half to just accept that it was lost. However, their replacement arrived next day.

    3) The Rock - Also arrive late. However it was because a fruad on my debit card, so i had to change the card. I notified them 3 times via email that i had a new card and they should phone me to find out the number. And after the 3rd one they decided to phone me back!

I might still give them a go again since they are selling Mummy Returns R4 in DTS! I may have just been unlucky.

Nowadays I use either Future Entertainment or Play247!

    Thanks Gareth.

I am still using Discemporium for DVDs but I am also testing the water with Movietyme and Play247.

Not really a good start is it?

To be honest, if any other provider were to give the same customer service, reliability and speed of delivery (ie. 2 weeks before official release in some cases!) then I would use them. If they can't then I will remain with DE.
MOVIETYME pull your socks up....I buy 5h1tloads of DVDs and you aren't helping matters for yourself here!

Have you filled in one of their lost disc forms and faxed it to them this worked for me, as long as its been at least 10 days since shipping confirmation.

    Cheers Carlos

It's not that my order has been lost yet.

I am more p155ed off about the fact that I had a query, sent 2 emails and then sweet FA.

The query was that the disc I ordered was now longer shown as being sold on their website and would they actually still be selling it to me now?

If not, I want ot go elsewhere where they can definitely supply it.

    Just a small query.

TBH, I don't think I will be using Movietyme ever again, even if this disc comes.
Shoddy beyond belief.

    Ono.
I have tried/used Movietyme, Play 247, Futureent, and have sooner or later always regreted it. I have always used Disc-emporium and they may be £3 more a disc but always always if they say it's going to be there tuesday it will be there etc, i always get most disc's 3-4 weeks before release date (not that that's really an issue) and always delivered within 3 days of ordering.
you get what you pay for and i don't mind paying for what i get as long as it does what it says on the tin!!
IN every case of the others i have had instances of delays, loss of details, told it was in stock only to wait 3 weeks!! etc etc.

    Steve matey,

I do have a very high regard for Discemporium and have used them for about 3 years almost exclusively.
It's just that we have another kiddy on the way and the Missus is gonna quit work and I have promised her that I would not be so loose with our spending.
But to be honest the 3 quid saving per disc is just not worth the hassle.

There are other ways of saving 3 quid.....like not buying my lunch everyday from Pret-a-Manger for example.

I just hate companies who do not give a 5h1t once they have your order.

    Hmmm.

I'm still waitin' for a problem with a Movietyme order so's I can get all riled up. No joy so far, they've bin' good as gold with orders over the past 12 months, guess I'll have to keep my temper in check

Though I do think they could solve a lot of potential problems by having an on-line order tracking system, even one as simple as that for Play247.

Well personally i think saving that £3 extra quid is worth it! Sometimes it can be more than £3, i've bought titles which i've saved upto £8! Thats like turning down a FREE DVD for every 3-4 DVD's you buy!

I'm gonna have to give Movietyme another try for their R4 version of Mummy Returns. If this one goes wrong, thats it, never again.

I've been using Disc Emporium since early 1998 and bought over 30 titles from them and only once had a problem. Yes i know if you order from them, you get it 2-3 weeks before the release date, but to be honest i often don't have the time to watch them, so i might as well wait the extra.

I recommend Future Entertainment, well so far anyway. I've ordered 5 titles from them and all turned up on time

If only Disc Emporium could lower their prices to £17.99 for most titles, rather than £21.99 then i would buy from them again. Come on Disc Emporium, sort it out!

just to add my penny's worth.....
pre-ordered the r4 silence of the lambs/hannibal boxset from the digital fixxx section of movietyme. but then had second thoughts and cancelled the order about 3 weeks ago.
last monday i bought the r2 silence and lo and behold, last friday morning what drops through my door but the previously cancelled silence/hannibal boxset!!
now i was initially p***ed off by this but, upon second thoughts, decided to flog my brand new r2 silence to a mate and keep the box set.
BUT the point here is that are movietyme knowingly sending out cancelled orders because they think that most people will do what i did and decided it wasnt worth the hassle of returning it?
shame, because since march, i've ordered nearly 30 discs from them and had not one single problem.
but having just cancelled my order for the region 1 godfather trilogy (waiting to see the region 2 and is it a lot cheaper due to lack of extras), i am loathe to place another order in case i end up with 2 godfather boxsets!!!
