Unfortunately with Gibson you definitely have to remove the artist from the art, the man is a disaster.
I do think that is an awful thing to say. What had the movie industry been without great personalities like him?

I know he has had his ups and downs, but the way I see this is that he is more like a fighter jet that is "designed" to be unstable to support great combat maneuverability and to be near impossible to fly without good control systems. Suppress that control system with some alcohol and you get a disaster.

Don't you think that many of his great achievements as an artist, actor, or film creator are because of the way he is screwed together? I wonder where the "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr had been today without the help from Mr. Gibson..

Really good film, as a director it’s either this or Hacksaw Ridge for me. As an actor Mad Max 2 is my favourite. Unfortunately with Gibson you definitely have to remove the artist from the art, the man is a disaster.
You have named two movies that IMO show just how good a director Mel Gibson is, it takes a super talented director to draw you in that completely you don’t notice the time going in these movies do this.

As an actor I think he is brilliant, Braveheart, The Patriot, Payback & Conspiracy Theory he made the movie IMO.

Sure the man has issues but in all honest who in Hollywood doesn’t or at the very least hasn’t had in the past.

He is racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic and has had accusations of domestic abuse, what a great personality……

I do think the movie "The Passion of the Christ" needs to be mentioned when it comes to Mel Gibson movies.

He is accused to be many of these things, that is true. I guess some of these bad labels is he the only one to truly know anything about. I do not know him personally but hope you do so you know what you are saying here is the truth.

It’s all out there, my favourite is when he called a Jewish person “an oven dodger”.
He has made some good films and is a fantastic actor. I still watch his work but it’s a shame he has tarnished his legacy.
That’s why I said you have to separate the artist from the art. To be fair to him he has apologised and has been ok since he quit the boozing.
Anyway massively off topic, I will leave it here.

Had some time to kill on Thursday so watched the Zack Snyder version of 'Justice League'. At first the 4:3 format really did my head in but after 4 hours of watching I'd forgotten about that. As for the movie, although it is indeed a long watch I enjoyed it, more-so than the original release version. Sorry, no screen shots - didn't want to take even more time pausing for pics :)

Was it streaming? I thought that disc releases were supposed to be scope or 16:9?

I watched it on disc, I am sure it was 4:3.

It was streaming via ATV4K .... BUT it was made in 4.3 format as that is what Zack Snyder wanted.

now for something completely different, Land on blu-ray via jvc n7. Beautifully shot, this is a story of someone in greif and wanting to escape people and outside world. Asks to be left at a log cabin in the rockies. The rugged nature of things, surviving the seasons. this is a film where we aren't talking 4k uhd and HDR and wider colour gamut, sharpness or detail and all that and yet is lovely to look and with many lovely scenes.

As a movie it doesnt delve too deeply in things, but yet there are many lovely scenes including one below with some interchanges and moments like this right upto literally last seconds of the movie...

Never seen this one. I have 3 movies of his still to watch. This is one of them.

I have re-watched Kill Bill free weeks ago with its glorious PCM track. Both picture and sound fidelity are outstanding and the story is great as well with emphasis on my fav. Vol 1 :)

Looking forward to inglorious bastards when I finish stage 2 of my room before Christmas (touch wood).

thanks for reminder on rewatching this series... will have to get around to it :)
You are in for a treat. It is so rear those days that all aspects of production are on such amazing level.

Actually i do not think there is anything that can match (for me) Kill Bill Vol. 1 as a package combining Audio (both on technical level and subjective) PQ and story enjoyment.

Yes. It is my number one movie as the most complete production I have ever seen.

I am not saying this is my favourite movie (however, without doubt, it is very high on the list) but this is number one for me as described above.

Highly recommended for so many reasons

(Make sure to select PCM track in the submenu and don't be shy to crank it up)

thanks Sebna, and for reminder on the pcm track :) looking forward to it :)
I am looking forward to your photos. I am sure that among other you would select it yourself but if you could take a photo of final fight on Vol.1 I would appreciate it greatly :)

BTW. I was watching SDR version. Don't know if 4k was released and if it still have the magnificent PCM track.

Not a huge fan of Tarantino, I like a few Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction and to a lesser extent Hateful Eight and Kill Bill.

I have tried a few times to watch Inglorious Basterds but just can't warm to it and turn it off after 30 minutes.

Watched a series on Netflix with the wife over the last few evenings and weekend that we both enjoyed, you might have already seen it.... Godless.

It’s a shame the only way to get the uncut is dvd , unless that’s changed ?
