I do think that is an awful thing to say. What had the movie industry been without great personalities like him?Unfortunately with Gibson you definitely have to remove the artist from the art, the man is a disaster.
I know he has had his ups and downs, but the way I see this is that he is more like a fighter jet that is "designed" to be unstable to support great combat maneuverability and to be near impossible to fly without good control systems. Suppress that control system with some alcohol and you get a disaster.
Don't you think that many of his great achievements as an artist, actor, or film creator are because of the way he is screwed together? I wonder where the "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr had been today without the help from Mr. Gibson..
