ok, I am a bit of a novice at this but have done a fair bit of research and reading here / elsewhere.
my kit is:
vortexbox - mainly for music but i will start using it to rip films, it does them in mkv format but can mirror them to m4
squeezebox touch to amp / speakers
the blu ray player is also connected to the amp and I am happy watching movies in stereo
sony bdp player and sony kdl46nx713
here is what i would like to do....
ditch virgin media - costs £40 per month and we dont even have any of the "premium" or paid for options
change to a broadband provider circa £20 p/m etc with unlimited download and speed around 16 / 20 mbps
throw in a media streamer so i can watch my ripped dvd collection from the vortexbox or access music from a one box solution
the media streamer must be able to do mkv or m4 files and have internet tv options - to subsititue the virgin channels we do have
I think I have narrowed down to these options...
1) boxee box - certainly would work well with the above
2) roku 2xs - looks like it has the most channels, not entirely sure on the streaming support
3) wd tv live
any other thoughts or considerations - ideally no more tha £120!!
cheers
