Mouse/Keyboard functionality in Halo

Playing Halo MCC on Series X. Using Corsair mouse/keyboard.

1. System won’t allow me to shut off controller manually to save battery. (I can navigate with mouse and keyboard just fine). When I shut it off I get a message that I need to reconnect the controller to continue. I’ve tried changing several settings, including the preferred input setting.

2. When I leave controller on to allow the game to play, it times out…and then I get the same message as above.

3. I do the following to try to solve it: If I start the console with its own button (not the controller), I can open the game but cannot press [Enter] to start when prompted, so I can’t play.

How do I simply play mouse/keyboard enabled games without having to have the controller on? I’m not even trying to play multiplayer. Just working through all of the campaigns. Thanks!

What mouse/keyboard do you use? Been thinking of switching to that input style for Warzone etc

Only way I can think of keeping the controller on is to connect it via cable

So thought I'd attach a cheap keyboard and mouse via USB to see what gameplay is like, wow what a difference. Aim wasn't great but will put that down to not using this method for years, but mainly due to the cheap mouse so when aiming down sights/scoping was a bit jumpy, guess I'd need a mouse with greater dpi.

Anyway, my pad switched off but it didn't affect gameplay, so not sure why it does for you? Try it on Warzone see if it's the same.
