    So again, for give the ignorance - I have not owned a PJ before (other than one for slide in the 1980s!).

    Question - how essential is it to permenantly mount the PJ in a fixed position?

    Are these devices that you can pull out of the cuboard when you want to use them, stick them on a portable stand and after a few minutes fiddling you can go? or do they realistically need to perm mounted in the same position.

    It's not essential but you will soon tire of setting it up, plugging in mains and video cables every time you want to use it.
    On top of that you may well shorten the lamp life by moving the projector a lot.
    And there's always the chance someone will trip over the mains or video cables and send the projector flying :eek:
