Mounting Z2

Hi there, just working out how to mount my Z2 in my new home

The options available are either ceiling mount or mounting on the rear wall. I don't want to go the coffee table approach

In a ceiling mount configuration should the lense be in line with the top of the screen ? I read a post earlier which suggested for the Z2 the ideal vertical position is centred in the middle of the screen. For a ceiling mount this would probably make the projector way too low

Can someone confirm ?

PS: looking at projecting a 96" screen - distance from screen to rear wall is 5 metres. Height of ceiling is 10"

Thanks

there is ideal and ideal...... the huge lens shift makes this a moot point for all but the most anal owners!

Can’t see much point in having a ceiling mount if it drops right down into the room. Lens shift is reckoned to have no effect on pq within 2/3 operating range and probably not that much effect even at near max – gives you a lot of leeway. Got mine mounted at level of top of screen .

How does the Z2 physically attach to your mount ? the Sanyo website shows a mount which looks like a cradle. I've got some pricing on a mount which has apparently a universal plate which attaches to the bottom of the PJ (screws into the underside of the case i guess).. not sure if this method will work with the Z2 ?

I use an LMP mount ( http://www.lmp-pc.co.uk ) which attaches to the three screw holes in the bottom (requires spacers) of the Z2 and the projector then hangs upside down.

As long as the mount you have in mind can match up to/use these screw holes you should be OK - although you might need spacers to compensate for the Z2 feet which prevent a flush fitting with the mounting plate.

make your own ceiling mount, its pretty easy and can be neat.
i made my own mount for my Z1.

its still to be sanded and treated, but i had to test and see that it worked. plus i removed a section so i could reach the filter without having to take it down.

Thanks, the mount i'm looking at is the LP Morgan skyhook - has four adjustable arms that you screw the PJ to (I guess in the Z2's case this would be 3 points), so supposedly works with any PJ.

No sure if you can get the LMP mounts here in AUS
