Mounting a flatscreen LCD TV above a fireplace

THERINGMASTA

I'm about to buy a 40" Samsung LE40F71BX High Definition 1080p LCD TV. I want to mount this onto the wall above the fireplace. However the fireplace will often be in use.

Will this be a fire hazard?

Will the heat interfere with or damage my tv?

If I chased into the wall to hide wires, will this cause any risks?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Common sense surely applies here and nobody can give you a definitive answer but I would suggest that you light a good fire (when the weather cools down a little) and just see how hot the fireplace gets in the location where you are siting the TV.

There is also the risk of smoke particles being drawn to the screen - long term effects are a bit difficult to guess. Suggest that if you do try this then don't do it with something too expensive !
