Exact procedure depends on whether it's a USALS or DiSEqC setup.

This link may help : http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/usals.htm

You may well not have the pole vertical or not have due south correctly set.

It's easy to get it spot on between just 2 points (like Astra and Hotbird) but harder to get it to track the elliptical shape needed so that it always points the dish at the correct angle over the full clarke belt (geostationary arc).
Correctly set, the dish look-angle will be highest when it's pointing due south and will be at a lower angle as you move either east or west.

Although the sats mentioned are not the ones we see from Europe, a very good set of basic instructions is here :

    http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/HH-mount-installation.htm

A google search should find the correct look-angles for UK-viewable sats .
