What are your most wanted DVDs? It doesn't matter whether they're already announced, already available but not good enough or simply nowhere to be seen. What are the films you REALLY can't wait for? (not Star Wars - too obvious)

    Try these:

    Planes, Trains & Automobiles
    Goodfellas, 1 sided special edition
    Cape Fear
    The Untouchables
    X-Men

    Loads more....

I know its sad, but I would really like them to release a set of the 4 'National Lampoons Vacation' series.

I love them... Not enough to buy them seperatly, but I would love them to bring out a 'compilation' of some kind.

Of the new releases, I can't wait for 'U-571' I loved that film in the cinema!

I'll be the first to post the obvious ones...

Star Wars (all of them)..sorry, but I REALLY want them!!!!
    Indiana Jones Trilogy
    Back to the Future Trilogy

My Wife would also love Disney to release Beauty and the Beast as it her fave.

Also, I would love more movies to be released, or re-released in many cases, with DTS soundtracks. Stuff like...

Armageddon (I know that there is a Japanese DTS version out..but it is expensive!)
    Bad Boys
    The Rock
Blade(have the DTS LD but would like to replace it with a single disc)
    Con Air
    Lost in Space
    The Mummy
    The Brosnan Bond Movies....

    ......and the Star Wars Movies...lol

A DTS version of THE ROCK ? Yes please I fu*king love that film ? I own it on video, LD and DVD so one more time will not hurt.

Also the BACK TO FUTURE MOVIES would be nice. Not that bothered about STAR WARS as im lucky enough to have that lovely LD Dolby Dgital Special Edition Box Set from a few years ago.

Just seen the specs for THE X-MEN and must say that has to be my most wanted of soon to be released titles. It has a special edition version on the disc including extra scenes and stuff and is supposed to be in DTS.

Another wanted film is released next week. FINAL DESTINATION, I really enjoyed this as the cinema and has the best plane crash ever ( dont watch if you are about to go on holiday )

Also want a special edition of GOODFELLAS and THE UNTOUCHABLES !!

Question for Jon Weaver, is U-571 any good ? really ? I was a little worried about the americans win the war thing but am prepared to take it as just a film ( same as Private Ryan ) but is it better than DAS BOOT or CRIMSON TIDE

    I want the following titles:

    1) A double or triple DVD version of "Blade Runner", with the original 1982 version, the company/Director's Cut from 1991/92, plus a load of extras on the disc itself, including the scripts, documentaries, trailers, a Dolby 5.1 and/or DTS soundtrack, and interviews and biographies.

    2) "Cinema Paradiso" - the 3hr version! Stunning film all about films and the part they play in peoples lives.

    3) "Betty Blue: Version Longue" - again the 3hr Director's Cut, with loads of extras

    4) Any version of "Once Upon A Time In America"

    5) "Heaven's Gate" - a failed but intriguing masterpiece, in its own way

    6) "Akira" - an Anime and Manga classic, with both the dubbed and subtitled versions on one disc!

    7) A new, digitally-remastered version of "The Deer-Hunter"

    8) A double DVD of "Dances With Wolves" including both the original version and the later "Director's Cut" with interviews, documentaries and loads of other extras.

    9) A complete release of all the following TV shows:- "E.R."; "Highlander: The Series"; Gerry Andersons woefully underrated puppet, detective comedy show "Dick Spanner: P.I."; "Tour Of Duty", and "Due South"

    10) Everything that Michael Mann has every produced/written and/or directed, including his early TV feature "The Jericho Mile" in a few boxed sets, especially "The Keep" and the Director's Cut (126 minutes) of "Manhunter"!

    11) A Steven Bochco "Pilots" special set, containing the first episode of "Hill Street Blues", "LA Law", "NYPD Blue" and "Brooklyn South"!

I think that's all for now....! I don't ask for much, do I?!

    Pooch

P.S. Oh, and can I also request "Babylon 5" with all the series and 4 TV movies together, all in proper 16:9 widescreen, and all UNCUT, with loads of extras, released as one Season per boxed set?!

Yeah DTS discs are high on my list as well. How about Predator DTS and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind DTS, imagine that base. Sweet.

TV series.. good point. I'll take Seinfeld, Larry Sanders, The Simpsons and Futurama, all day.

I'll add my votes for some TV series as well..

Highlander, Simpsons, Futurama, and most definitly a definitive season by season box set of Babylon 5

    Forgot about Predator....in DTS, HHhhhmmmmmm!!

Duncan, I only have the PAL LD Star Wars set so I Dolby Digitaless (boo hoo),

I am going to replace my FIVE SIDED!! Rock Criterion with the upcoming DVD Criterion edition...but can you imagine the car chase, shower scene and those jets and helicopters in DTS !!!!!!!!!

I have read on a couple of forums that the X-Men DVD is not going to feature DTS sound now as Fox said there was noticable drops in picture quality on tests discs with both sound formats...still sounds like a good disc though.

I think the Gladiator two disc set with DTS should be a good one. I just hope the rumours about it featuring some new 'tagging' technology that can detect wether a player is multi-region modded or not and not play it if it is, are not true!

CRITERION version of THE ROCK ? will that be DTS ?????

    Whens it out ???????

Also as far as I have been aware I thought that players that require the region code to be manually changed ( or give you the option to do so ) function as a player of that region when selected. So I doubt it will stop Gladiator selling. And I suppose this takes this thread off on a tangent but.....

Why are the publishers still so pro multi-region ( or are they not ) they must be aware of the vast amount of sales that go to people outside of the US. For instance this Forum has now got well over 1000 members and even if just 500 of use have mult-region players I imagine thats a small percentage of everyone in the UK nethermind the rest of the world !!!! They must be making almost as much money from outside the US as they are inside the US. I know they dont get the money direct from us, but neither to UK publishers. They get there money from all the comapnies and shops that buy there goods.

I have seen a few 'rumours' about a possible pre-christmas release of The Rock Criterion edition on DVD, but of all the little reports only one said that it may have a DTS soundtrack (can't remember which one though...it was a while ago).

Have Criterion ever done any DTS discs (DVD or LD)??

As far as the region thing goes, here is how I have seen it explained (dont know if it is right though). A multi region player that has no manual slection of region basically removes or over rides the region tag that a disc looks for and makes it redundant so any disc SHOULD play. A multi region player with maual region selection falsifies a region code for any region disc to raec so it believes it is being played in a plyer from that region.

What Gladiator (and a few other upcoming discs apparently) is going to do is search for a pre-programmed code that is only in factory chips and not after market modded chips, so no matter wether a player is manually or automatic region selection it will not have this factory code and will not play the disc.
Apparently the Techtronics mods (like on the Pioneer players where they still keep the standard chip and just use a piggy back chip) will still allow the disc to read the code and play....probably!

Like I said, dont know if any of this is true...I hope it isn't as i think studios are getting a bit pathetic with the whole region thing....I mean, they cant blame release windows on this one as Gladiator is being released on the asame day all over the world!!!

    INDIANA JONES !!!!!!!!!

I desparately want the cinematic visuals and the awesome soundtrack to come alive in DTS (or DD).

p.s. My ex. went to the school where Indy lectures in the first film, the classroom was where she had Geography lessons. Masonic School for Girls in Bucks. (can't remember the name).

p.p.s George Lucas can stick Star wars up his ARS* !! killjoy. Anyway, Phantom Mincer was a pile of merchandising W***. Was it just me or was the pod race purely there to make a game opportunity!
