Hi,
I was channell-hopping through the Sky EPG last night, and found an undiscovered gem of a channel, called "Sumo TV". It's on Sky EPG position 146.
The channel has nothing to do with Japan, Sumo wrestling, or in fact sport at all, which doesn't explain the name. However, what it does show is hilariously bad public information films, old movie trailers and promotional stuff, ranging from the 1930's right up to the mid-1970's, and from both the USA and UK!
This is a genius channel. The print quality is pretty bad, which is hardly surprising, and the channel itself doesn't have the greatest broadcast picture either, plus it's in 4:3 only (or hard-matted 1.77:1 when they transmit widescreen trailers/featurettes), but it's fantastic.
Today, I watched a trailer for some Laurel & Hardy stuff, a promo for "Attack Of The 50ft Woman", and learnt "Ten Things To Do With Broccoli"! (I kid you not!)
If you haven't watched this channel, or never heard of it, you simply have to, because it's just brilliant! it's like having the best and worst of Ed Wood, but all on one channel!
Look out for "Sumo TV" or "Sumo TV Trailerdome" in the EPG programme listings. They also show crummy viral and viewer-sent video clips too, which vary from fun to mind-numbingly dumb!
