What are your most dissapointing films that everyone raved about.

    I will start with:

    GLADIATOR

Terrible,so boring and Russell Crowe had about as much charisma as a mouse mat.Ollie Reed was of course much better though.

    WAYNE'S WORLD.

The most unfunny comedy I have ever seen.

    E.T

Very dissapointing when I saw it in 1982.I like most of Speilberg's films but coupled with the awfull John Williams music it was too much.It didn't capture my imagination.

    Amarak,

No offence, but I wouldn't classify those three films as the most overrated ever, bearing in mind all the other titles you could have chosen!

I disagree.. . I thought Gladiator was one of the best epics in a long time! ... (ie since Ben-Hur) .... the direction was fantastic, sets were great and musical score complemented the movie beautifully .

Though I agree with Wayne's World being unfunny... got bored and never finished watching it!

Didn't fancy ET too much either... preferred the ride at universal studios! :D

They were overrated for him though!

    Mine include

Star Wars PM and AOTC :- Over hyped, PM is kind of enjoyable but not what I thought they were going to be.

28 Days Later - My friends said this was awesome and scary, I thought it was bland and about as scary as Monsters Inc.

Now I usually prefer to see or hear nothing about the film before seeing it.

I think what this post is aiming at is those certified classics that you just can't stand.

Die An Other Day, yet it has been the biggest grossing Bond film so far.

    Two words

    Citizen Kane

I have seen this a number of times and fail to see how or why this appears at the top of many 'best of' polls.

    I must be missing something

the fact that there was NOTHING like it previously, Citizen Kane is a perfect example of revolutionary film-making, ok so the film drags in the second half, but look at Orson Wells' camera work. Noboby else had ever thought of making a film in that way before, that's why it appears so often as the greatest film ever made.
Touch of Evil also demonstrates that Orson Wells is one of the greatest visual directors ever.

Raging Bull - Complete Bull more like, 'the most realistic boxing scenes ever', What? have these people never actually seen a real Boxing bout?

The Deer Hunter. I agree, very dull, the 1st hour is just a wedding taking place!!

Start Wars (the first one, part 4 or whatever). Now I do think this is OK but only OK, the appalling lack of any shooting acuracy by the baddies spoils it for me.

watch it more than once to really get the humour, as it can seem a bit of an oddity the first time round.
