My younger brother recently picked up the dual arcade stick for Virtual On on the Saturn on ebay... very fun to have a go with, but totally incompatible with anything else!!! Anyone got anything more specialised than this??

The Trance Vibrator for Rez is pretty Obscure. Most people have only heard of it because of the girl gamer article where she enjoyed:D it

It doesn't. Or at least mine doesn't.

It was only sold in America and Japan so there might be an incompatibility issue. A few forums I've asked on haven't had a clue. It makes a nice display piece, though.

I had one of those NegCon controllers for the PS1 that was supposed to 'enhance' Ridge Racer. I guess it did enhance the game, it made it unplayable! but i guess thats not the enhancement they were aiming for

Re the power glove, do a search for angry nintendo kid on youtube(think thats what its called) and there is a very funny review of the glove

It's Angry Nintendo Nerd aka Angry Video Game Nerd. But be careful because he swears a lot.

Another weird controller is the NES U-Force. I have no idea what it does but it looks like a battleships board game. Or there's R.O.B. also on the NES.

There was a Turbo Touch 360 series on the NES, SNES, and maybe Mega Drive but I'm not too sure on that one. It had a touch sensitive D-Pad rather than buttons.

this is like a walk down memory lane, never heard of some of these controllers before.

    some more links:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.O.B.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-Force
    http://www.nesplayer.com/database/accessories/turbotouch.htm

so much of this stuff I suppose can be seen in the wii today.

I dunno, Yoshi's Safari was pretty cool with the scope :)

I have the Namco neGcon controller, sucks with Ridge Racer but is AWESOME with Wipeout! On the same line, what about Namco's Jogcon for Ridge Racer Type 4? Little thumbwheel in the centre of the pad that force feedback? Never got one but it looked pretty cool

I love the Power Glove, it's so bad!

    :D

I've actually got The Wizard on DVD, but it's :r1: and I don't have any Multi Region DVD players in my house any more.

The most obscure contoller that I can remember, I think it was an original Xbox game called Steel Battalion, where you basically get the controls of a tank to play on your Xbox, Wiki page here.

You can still buy the game today for £72, or £200

Absolute class! The Angry Nintendo Nerd is :rotfl: :rotfl:.

I'm surprised that Virtua Boy hasn't made an appearance as that is one pretty lame peripheral!

this is something i bought a few years ago and used about once :D it's supposed to replace a keyboard for gaming, was ridiculously difficult to use though and not at all comfortable, and the usb cable was only about 50cm long so you couldn't really go far with it..

I bought some edimensional 3D glasses for the PC a few years back. They worked pretty well but I found that I couldn't play FPS's as well as with them off so I ended up not using them and they got flogged on Ebay.

    Here's a LINK.

I don't know, perhaps Nintendo were just going for that niche "i'd like to get a migraine and vomit whilst gaming" market. ;)

But the Vitual Boy was a console, not a peripheral.

Do you mean the Analog Joystick like the one I linked to in the first reply?

I guess not but it was still one crazy device.

On the peripheral front, I seem to remember a fighting frame that you stood within and it tracked your moves within it. Couldn't find that but I found this LINK which is similar (if not the same) as the one mentioned in one of the vids above.

Seems to work well in this video, but I guess you never know if it's just someone doing the actions on a pad and the guy in the bodypads just doing the actions! :D
